Ok, if anyone out there has had any luck with their 1315 please let me know. Trying to connect to the new airport extreme and I am not having any luck. So I am sending an S.O.S. before I send my printer out the window.
    thanks

    HP PSC 1315 works

Ok so I got the crazy thing to work. There are a lot of places out there that say it doesn't be here is how I did it. I am a novice mac user so some of this may be very basic to you. Don't even bother with HP's drivers from their site, they won't work, at least not for the time being.

    Equipment:
Airport extreme, MBP C2D, HP PSC 1315

Printer is connected via usb to airport extreme
You will have to download and install the following.
    1. espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg
    2. hpijs-foomatic-2.0.2.ppc.dmg

Do this by going to The Linux Foundation

Install in the order listed above, they both must be installed for this to work.

    Than do the following:
    1. go to >system preferences>print & fax
    2. Click "+" to add a printer
    3. The hp psc 1310 will be listed with the connection type "bonjour"
    4. highlight this printer
    5. At the bottom of the window you will see the option for "Print Using" and than you can choose something from the drop down menu.
    6. Scroll down to "HP" and choose that
    7. This now propagates a window full of HP printers including the hpijs drivers that you installed above.
    8. Scroll down until you see "HP PSC 1310 FOOTMATIC/hpijs" and highlight this
    9. Click "add"

That's it, your done and it should work.
Here is a little explantation from someone else on why we had to do all these dang steps.

"And actually, this is Apple's fault. There are two print programming interfaces for OS X, the old Carbon one and the new CUPS one. If Apple were like Micro$oft, they would enforce use of just one interface, and all drivers would be CUPS drivers, capable of all the network protocols that are a part of CUPS. As it is, manufacturers like using Carbon because they can limit the driver to USB only and their proprietary utilities are easier (because they can reuse what they wrote for OS 9)."

Let me know if this helps any.

    follow-up, print mode

Ok, here is another issue I am now experiencing with this.
When I choose "Draft" in the print mode, it prints at high quality.
Actually it prints at high quality no matter what I chose.
    Any ideas????

    Thanks

    Daneoni,
Glad to be of some help. One question though, can you make it print draft quality etc...
If no one out there can get a 1315 to do so than I am going to be looking for a replacement that does work with the settings.

The draft/grayscale option is under the print menu and under "printer features".

This procedure worked for me, but anything that would have been printed using black ink is instead printed using the color ink. It acts like there is no black cartridge.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for the update mdpens, the other instructions were getting old.
Since the file names have changed a little bit, I have a little update of my own...

I downloaded and installed the following from The Linux Foundation
    1) hpijs-2.8.12-ub.dmg - version 2.8.12 of the hpijs driver
    2) Foomatic-RIP
    3) gplgs-8.63-ub.dmg - Ghostscript for Mac OS X 10.5.x

then followed your instructions for adding the printer.

Did anyone figure out a solution for the no black ink issue? I'm having a very similar issue. Is this just a printer setting issue?
