To turn "interference Robustness" on and off just select/deselect it in the drop down menu you mentioned.

Its purpose is to strengthen you airport signal in an area where you might have interference from other 2.4gh devices, like a cordless phone.

It's been my experience that "interference Robustness" only strengthens the signal a little and actually reduces the signal distance.

Your milage may vary.

No, just turn it on and off from the drop down menu. That is once you've gone through the initial base station set up, which suspect you have if you're using it now.
