In red: the thing I care about least
In blue: the thing I want to actually read

Can you make it so the bit in blue is bold and is the start of the sentence, and the bit in red unbolded and added at the end of the sentence? You can see why the current way doesn't work because screenshot shows two people who posted in the same thread, yet if my eyes go down in a straight line to read the thread titles I have to scan left/right. The lack of formatting means I can't skim over my alerts to something that interests me.

I don't know if the admins would make such a change, but you can control the formatting yourself so it looks more like:

by adding:

Code:
.alertText > h3 > a.PopupItemLink{
    font-weight: bold;
}

to your user stylesheet, which is a text document saved with the file extension '.css'. In Safari, you can choose a stylesheet by going to Safari > Preferences… > Advanced > Style sheet.
