The first purported leak of the case design for the iPhone 7 appeared yesterday on French blog Nowhereelse.fr.

The alleged images from Taiwanese phone case manufacturer Catcher Technology depict a subtle chassis redesign for the iPhone 7, which is expected to be released by Apple this coming September.

The renders are consistent with information obtained by MacRumors last month from a previously reliable source claiming that the handset will lack antenna bands across the rear. As expected, the images show antenna bands are limited to the sides and around the top and bottom edges of the chassis.

In addition to the cleaner all-metal look, the images of the rear of the case depict a larger hole for the camera. The orifice is described as closer to the edges of the chassis and forming a "slight bulging outgrowth", a phrasing which doesn't appear entirely consistent with our earlier source's claim that the camera sits flush with the rear casing.

The chassis leaker adds that the design "seems slightly thinner than the iPhone 6s, confirming in passing the lack of a headphone jack port". That would appear to support last week's leak of the first protective case prepared for the iPhone 7 showing two openings for stereo speakers in lieu of the 3.5mm headphone jack on current iPhones. However, the purported change is difficult to confirm one way or the other based on these latest renders.

Earlier yesterday, Nowhereelse.fr also posted images allegedly showing dual-lens camera component parts for the iPhone 7 Plus, however these were later revealed to be identical to images that surfaced in early January.

Some rumors claim the dual-camera setup may be exclusive to the iPhone 7 Plus, which reportedly may be called the iPhone Pro.

Gotta say I was expecting more of an extreme redesign. Looks pretty much like a 6 from the back.

I hope it's not the final design. I want people to know I have the latest one (not that I want to encourage theft).

Click the link in the article - the whole photo is there, no idea why the top is cropped on this article.

    I will call it out:

iPhone 7 - same camera but with OIS - that from the hand me down of the 6S+
iPhone 7+ aka iPhone pro - double camera setup. Updated resolution. 4GB ram. No headphone jack but new design for an airplay earphone/headphone setups.

New iPad pro mini aka iPad Air 3. Same set up as iPad Pro - with Pencil support and smart accessories. iOS 10 preview.

I don't know what's more scary: the lack of design or the Windows PC

Does anyone else find it ironic we are looking at a future phone on a Windows XP desktop ?

You want to know that people know you have the latest one. This way they have to put a little effort into seeing whether you have an iPhone 7. If it were radically different, they could tell at a casual glance, and you wouldn't have the satisfaction of seeing them straining to look.

Given how far we are away from September, I am crossing my fingers and hope this is the design for the iPhone SE or whatever you call it. I want the 7 to look radical. Not like a redesign of the current 6/6s

People wanted revolution, not another slippery evolution. This is what the 6s should have looked like.

IF that was an actual photo of an iPhone 7 it would be a pretty mundane update to the current design.
That same old same old would make it look like Jony just phoned it in.

I am stunned at how iPhone-like the shape appears to be. I was expecting a pyramid-shaped phone, or perhaps dodecahedron-shaped, if they wanted to go in the other direction.

Hard to evolve on the 6 design. Rounded and thin has been the best design so far. Going back to flat sides is a devolution.

Not saying we want a pyramid shaped iPhone, I'm just saying we expect a new and fresh design.
We all know the "S" models look the same as the non "S" models; the "S" basically getting under the hood changes and improvements, with the same design.
But when you go from an iPhone 4 to a 5 to a 6 to a 7, there should be some new design ideas introduced.
Otherwise it would appear that Apple's management and/or designers are simply bored, uninspired or complacent.

Camera seems a lot less protruding, which is good.
But it still looks like a 6, which is the iPhone design I like the least, so these rumours has settled it for me.
    Im going with the (5)SE.

Given Apple's poor track record for secrecy with leaked parts etc, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the legit plans for the new iPhone 7.

I wasn't replying to your post, in fact I kind of agree with you. But if this is just for the case it may not tell us the full story about how the iPhone 7 will look, only its general shape. For example, it doesn't tell us anything about the bezel-to-screen ratio for example, or if the home button has changed, or even how precisely how thin it will appear to be. So whilst I share your concerns that Apple should not rest on their laurels, there is still at least the potential for some surprises design-wise.

My earlier post was just a sarcastic expression of how little this really tells us other than it looks predictably rectangular with rounded corners like every iPhone ever thus far.
