I've just spoken with Amazon phone support regarding my August 1 delivery estimate for the 1.83 MacBook I ordered on May 29.

I was told that Amazon has the MacBook release date listed as June 15 (which is weird considering the rumors of people claiming shipment confirmation emails...), and that orders should ship within 24 hours of their release date (again June 15).

Oh...I was also told that I would receive processing priority due to my selection of 2-day shipping. Apparently selecting the free shipping option drops your place in the cue. So if you've chosen the free shipping option, you might want to upgrade in order to keep from chewing your arm off in frustration at having waited weeks for your order, only to have to wait longer for Amazon to restock their initial MB inventory.

this is what i received from Amazon

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding regarding this item. Although we
do have your copy of "Apple MacBook MA254LL/A 13.3" on hand, we
can't ship it to you until its official release date, June 19, 2006.
Many manufacturers, publishers, and record labels restrict retailers
from selling or shipping their products until the official release
    date.

In some cases, these items may enter the shipping process just prior
to the release date. When possible, we do this to ensure that you
get the item as soon as possible after the release date.

When your order is shipped, we'll send you an e-mail message to let
you know it's on the way.

    Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.

Say what? Mine is on it's way and will be here tomorrow--a Black MacBook 13.3" 2.0 gHz Intel Core Duo from Amazon. I've been tracking it with the tracking number provided, and it's definitely left the Amazon warehouse. I think that your Amazon correspondent is confused. Apple has already released the MacBook, haven't they? If not, why are they shipping it?

And why did Amazon ship mine but not yours? Someone is pulling your leg...

I would contact them again and let them know about the release date issue and their willingness to lie to you about that crap. I almost bet you they will credit you come cash :)

I ordered my white MacBook on May 21st along with the 3-yr protection plan. I asked about the different ship times of the warranty and the MacBook and this is what I got:

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

Since your Apple MacBook MA255LL/A 13.3" Notebook PC (2.0 GHz Intel
Core Duo, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB Hard Drive, SuperDrive) will not be
released until June 19, 2006, and the AppleCare Protection Plan for
MacBook/iBook Notebooks - 3 Year Plan is currently available they will
currently ship out at different times.

Currently the estimated ship date for
the Protection Plan is June 13-20, 2006 and the current shipping date
for the Apple Notebook is July 25, 2006.

Notice the June 19th "release" date, but a July 25 ship date. Kinda makes me say, "hmmmm....." Maybe I'll try a different shipping method. But if that doesn't work it'll probably drop me even further back in the queue. Hmmmm.......
