Another chapter in the "me me me" generation...

I'm in Jacksonville waiting for a flight, and there are three guys (mid 20s) sitting two seats down from me by the boarding gate... looking at PORN.

    WTF?

    So this is acceptable?

When did manners and pride in one's public behavior get thrown out the window?

    *pissed*

This does not represent all Americans. I can't believe someone would so something so private in a public place. That's just disgusting.

I know, I know... you at least have the courtesy to wait and lock yourself in the bathroom onboard the plane and moan real loud. As I recall anyway. ;)

Hey, it could have been worse. It could have been a woman breastfeeding her baby.

Remember not to rock back and forth in your seat when you're saying your prayers. You don't want to make the passengers all nervous and be deplaned in the process. :p

Boom! Into the PR Forum, we go. :D

I would have said magazine was marginally more acceptable than on a computer with the sound on though. :p Don't they sell porn magazines at airports and the like? I've always thought that's odd.

If there were no kids around I don't mind if people look at porn as long as they keep their sound down/off.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe porn is more excepted in European countries than the US.

    Excepted or accepted?

Either way, I think you might have missed the point-- elsewhere in the world, people are more accepting of the human form (bodies, period) than American mainstream culture. It's not as a big of a deal to see nudity, but that does NOT mean it isn't a big deal to see sexual acts in public!

Speaking of which, we left the Pismo pier yesterday because we got sick of watching the blond one bench over give her boyfriend a handjob in public.

I mean, it was one thing when they started suckin' face like horny teens, but after her hand went up his shorts -- we were out of there.

Sorry, I'm loosing my mind. Yes, I meant "accepted."

Ya, either way it isn't/shouldn't be something acceptable in public, but from what I've heard, porn isn't as "taboo" elsewhere as in the UK/America.

If it was just a Playboy, who cares? There's probably more sexually suggestive ads spread around the airport than there are in PB. If it was hard core stuff, well, as long as they were being discrete about it, I don't see a problem.

Last October in Budapest I was with a couple of Kiwis out for a night on the town. Just as we turned a corner, there were two guys ahead of us holding hands. Charlotte, who was about 24, was horrified and said, "You'd never see that in NZ!" The evening was capped by watching a couple with their pants down, going at it on a park bench just up from the Opera House. She had a problem with that too. So, Americans aren't the only prudes out there.

David Cross has a bit about this, read the [On Airport Pornography] quote on that page

There was also a scene in Lost in Translation where a guy is reading porn on the subway.

So yes, it's wrong to be looking at porn in public, but hey at least have a laugh about it.

No, no. You don't read porn. You look at porn. You read the articles when your significant other finds your stash of playboys :D

    It got better.

It was not that they were looking at it - and no, I wouldn't mind if they did it if they were being a bit discreet. But they had four guys gathered around a mag with smut pictures on the front pointing and making a comotion in the waiting area.

They sat on the right side of the plane across from me and the stewardess had to ask on kid four times to fasten his belt, and then they were riducling the poor girl for doing her job. "Sir her de herr you have to fasten your belt her de herr."

Then, half-way through the flight they were looking at porn again, and the flight attendant said they had to put it away. After she was gone, they were making fun of here for saying something. "Oh, it's those kids with the porn."

Then she had to ask the kid three times to fasten his belt for landing and they were looking at porn again. I had finally had it. I said "You know, no one, and I mean no one on this plane thinks you guys are cool for acting like complete jackasses. Now do what she asked, put the smut away, fasten your belts and shutup."

They started making fun of me, and then four guys in business suits around them said if they didn't shut up, they would take it outside at the airport.

They decided to behave for the rest of the flight. And it was Hustler - labias and all.

And Compx - no not all Americans are like that, but there is this feeling among kids to late-20s people that they are entitled to do whatever they want, and if they get called on it, people are *******s for saying something - and I'm tired of people ruining my day by being rude.

They should have been escorted off the plane by the FBI (like all other troublemakers).

...or better yet, pushed out at 35,000 feet. :D

Glad you decided to say something, and that realising that everyone else on the plane thought they were idiots shut em up. :)

And I think that Hustler should use that as their tagline. :p

Either you are all totally prude and have never seen a naked person or had sex, or you are uncomfortable with your own body. Get over your inhibitions. And yourself.

Chicks breast feed, I'm ok with in public. The greatest works of art in the world depict naked people and they are beautiful. The human body is one of the most beautiful forms on Earth. In all shapes and sizes.
