Analyst won't be surprised if IBM buys AMD

    It would make sense. IBM use their own Power based servers and Intel x86 and Itanium based lines. If they bought AMD they could have everything under their control. Power servers and 970 desktops, and the AMD line in it's x86 compatible line up, thus removing the need to buy from Intel...unless the Itanium takes off. They more or less have the PowerPC market sown up, if they can inmprove AMD's chips they could be a major player in the x86 market...especially with their name...Athlon seems to be more of a hobbyist or home chip at the moment cause businesses trust the Intel brand...IBM has that brand trust too...

    Weird I didn't think IBM and AMD were close, I just thought they were in the same field... does IBM even use AMD chips at all?
