My iPods HD has been dead since december or january and was out of warranty, im finally going crazy without an ipod and need suggestions of what to do? i tried searching high and low for a replacement HD to no avail, it is not a battery issue i know this for a fact.

whats this i hear about $60 to replace it? online it says it costs $270

thanks for anyhelp.

Well you can either buy one and replace it yourself, or have it done by someone else that you can trust.

The hardest part of servicing an iPod is splitting the case halves. If you think you can do this, I would strongly recommend locating a replacement drive, and replace it yourself.

This site has good directions on how to replace the drive yourself.

The HDD itself is rather expensive you are better off getting a new iPod. I believe it's the labor(time it takes for a person to exchange old to new) that will cost around $60.

ive already split my ipod, it wasnt hard

but what about the trade in system apple has?
