We need a 'Joe Versus The Volcano' sequel. Prioritize, Hanks!! You've got to learn to prioritize!!

How is Forrest Gump a war film? Anyway, this would make Hanks' 2nd war film. What's the big deal?

i found Band of Brothers to be some of the best storytelling and filmmaking i've seen. if Hanks' efforts can produce something of similar quality, i'm all for it.

Band of Brothers was fantastic. Its even more amazing that the stories they told were real. I'm looking forward to another war movie from Hanks - but I also agree, the Big, Splash, Volcano movies would be fun as well.

Hanks is also producing (along with the regular gang) a sequel mini series to band of brothers, this time focusing on the efforts in the pacific, and not being based on a book. The main writer is a guy who got nominated for an emmy for one of the eps of band of brothers.

a movie about a us military stalemate?

we actually need those, and more vietnam war epics to show people that wars fought by the us are not all simple and quick victories

war is hell, or something like that, quoted by some soldier...as opposed to a fun game where we rack up the most points because we have air superiority and better technology so the war ends up looking like a video game by the time it gets to cnn:rolleyes:

Whatever. As long as Meg Ryan is in it, I'll be happy. ;)

"But Dignan, what do you mean Meg Ryan isn't in it?"

Damn, I'm up for having Meg Ryan at any time of day... ;)

(was that humour a bit strained)?:D

I thought Band of Brothers was excellent, having read the book earlier, I was expecting a shadowy effort with plenty of bombs and guns, instead we get a solid effort with plenty of bombs and guns.

Great story telling, all the more for being real.

    Quote of the series:

"We're paratroopers, we're supposed to be surrounded"

I got the DVD box-set for christmas, its even better on repeat viewing.

I didn't like Private Ryan too much, the opening assault was some of the best FX seen in a movie, but it descended into gung-ho'dness (?) too easily. Watchable though.

The news of the Pacific series is great, there are some truly outstanding stories of the American efforts in the Pacific, just as long as they don't do a Pearl Harbour:eek:

If it's as good as Band of Brothers is, then sign me up for the DVD set. (I don't have HBO. ;))

I wonder if this has any connection with the late S.E. Ambrose's project to write a 'Citizen Soldiers' for the Pacific theater.
