Netscape has kindly provided one of the most comprehensive collections of anti-Bush slogans yet. Some of these I'd seen before, but many I hadn't.

    Some of my favorites:

    • Bush/Cheney '04: Compassionate Colonialism

    • Bush/Cheney '04: Over a Billion Whoppers Served

    • Bush/Cheney '04: The Last Vote You'll Ever Have to Cast

    • Banana Republicans

    • "Yee-Ha" is not a Foreign Policy

    • John Kerry...bringing complete sentences back to the White House

    • Left has never been so right

    :p

    I hope you're kidding.

That's why this is America. We're allowed to criticize the people in charge when they makes mistakes. And we're allowed to vote for someone else if we think he is doing a bad job and the other guy might do better. That's what elections are for, and why half of us are choosing to vote for the other guy.

That's why this is supposed to be such a great place to live. I can love the country, but hate the government. A true patriot would know that. ;)

    I'm personally a fan of

    "More Trees / Less Bush"

and the less-humorous, but certainly true,

    "Re-Defeat Bush"

    :)

Seriously? I didn't vote for the guy the first time. I think he's done a terrible job in office. Why should I support him, just because they call him "Mr. President"? What compelling arguments do you have for that?

Respect for the president is like respect for anyone else: it has to be earned.

    I disagree.

I feel a certain base level of respect is due each person, and can vary according to their circumstances in relation to you (a teacher gets more than a fellow student, a supervisor gets more than a co-worker, etc.).

This level of respect is, of course, prima facie, and can be elevated, lessened, or lost entirely.

I strongy dislike the notion that one's respect must be "earned."

It's old, but one of my favorite bumper stickers:

"Don't blame the voters! They elected Gore"

We seem to be talking about different things.

There's respect for what a person is, i.e., their position, office, station in life, basic human rights -- and we all deserve this kind of respect.

Then there's respect for what a person does. This can vary widely. In this category, Gandhi and Charles Manson certainly don't rate the same level of respect in most people's eyes.

I'm talking about the latter. I can respect Bush -- however grudgingly -- because he is the president. And I can respect his rights. I absolutely cannot respect his actions. That kind of respect is what you earn.

Actually, there was a link to anti-Kerry slogans, too. But that page was only about one-fifth as long. There just don't seem to be that many witty anti-Kerry sentiments.

On the way to Home Depot yesterday, I say a Bush/Cheney sign someone had stuck in their lawn. Slapped across the front was a big-old sticker that said "Four more wars!". I had to chuckle at that.

I just saw a VW with a sticker that read,

"The only Bush I trust is my own"

    :D
