I'm supposed to find out today if i got the job at the apple store here in Santa Clara. A phone call means I got the job and an email mean I didn't but I haven't received either one yet and the anticipation is killing me. Wish me luck.

Good luck mate - hope you get that call. Waiting for a call myself (not with Apple), so I know how you feel :)

Good luck theonenonlyjoey, hope that you will receive a phone call soon. Waiting on a phone call can be very anxiety producing. Anticipation is difficult. Just like a watched pot never boils. ;)

I'm there almost everyday. Haha. Pathetic. About a week ago some guy bought a maxed out 2.7 G5 with a 30 Inch screen and i kinda just followed him around as if he were a god with my jaw dragging on the floor. His total came to over $8,000 or something close to that.

Update: The hiring manager is out sick for an extended period so it may be a while before i find out if I got the job. Until then it means I can remain on macrumors.

that's just hot. I need one.
For um.. X11 astronaut business. (accd to my fav. clerk, X11 is for astronauts, and astronauts only)

    GOOD LUCK ON THE JOB!!!
I've applied at over 20 places, and no one calls or emails me. I only got post cards from Urban Outfitters (saying I wasn't cool enough) and Target (again, since I read The Economist, instead of Teen People, I'm not cool enough) rejecting me.

Once I hit 18, I'll be up at that apple store, filling out job application like no one's business!

But good luck, dude. Rock on. :) :)

What kind of discount do you get if you work there? Same as edu?

I heard 20-30%. I've googled about it a bunch, and can't find any hard numbers. (maybe my googling skills aren't as google-tastic as I believe them to be)

If it's 20-30%, once I get my job, POWERMAC, HERE I COME!!!

(if it costs about $50. It probably will. mmmm... $50 PowerMac)

    EDIT:
    read this site
"Here's a run-down of product discount benefits for full-time employees as of mid-2004:
an on-going 10% discount on anything in the store
    a once-per-year 25% discount on a complete system
three discounts for friends and family per year of 15% off a complete system
deals on product models they are discontinuing prior to new product introductions
occasional employee discounts or rebates on third-part products, including Canon and H-P (one tipster said this plan was the only one offered to part-time employees)
a quarterly bonus if the store achieves its sales quota, $500 for part-time and $1,000 for full-time employees"

Yes, but that once a year 25% would be sweet. Think about it, an $8000 PM setup for $6000...$2000 in savings!

$2K savings assuming of course you have $8K to begin with. Unlikely working retail like that. :p

Good luck! Be sure to let us know if you get the position. I can't wait until I'm 18 and can apply for the Apple Store. I'll do it the same day if I get the chance.
