I have some important stuff i need to remember on a daily basis ...personal goals etc. Its really really important that i achieve these goals.

Just wondering what apps people use to remind themselves of stuff like this? I know iCal can display a message everyday as an event etc. And i could type into on my desktop pic but is there any other novel & effective ways of doing this that i wont get bored of & ignore too easily?

I suppose i could get ical it to open a word doc or powerpoint display at various times throughout the day? I may have answered my question with this one.. hmm, guess it works when you speak your questions out loud!

    anything else out there??

You could use "Stickies" on the desktop, there are numerous widgets that are "To Do" lists you can find online, etc etc. All of those are only tools though, it still comes down to how often you check your own stuff and keep on-task.

    So true.

No matter what system you use, you have to follow the system for it to assist you.

I've used many systems from Palm OS, Pocket PC, Newton OS, desktop, etc. over the years. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.

LOL, I am back to paper now using CC Plus (PC Software). Of course I use my cell phone for contacts.

The key is to find something that works for you ... then follow it.

BTW, I knew a great manager who was the head of a 600 person organization that had a simple system. He used 3x5 note cards. He carried two of them. He completed them every night before he went home.

Card one had his daily schedule written down on one side. On the other side, he had his to do list. On the second card, he had key information about anyone he was going to recognize/talk to. The back side was for notes.

Don't know if it would work well for me, but this system worked very well for him.

i know about stickies & todos. The thing is it has to catch my eye and almost force me to notice... everything else ive tried i tend to ignore or close after a few days.

And because its personal goals it is only time im losing. I have to many distractions. Im led astray to easy.

Ive just built myself alittle powerpoint presentation that ill set to open on start up and after lunch everyday. This might work.

You might want to check out the Covey system.

It covers all aspects of your life.

Then again, like any plan, the key is to follow it.

But im pretty good with day to day stuff that has to be done... no problems whatsoever - im extremely organised and happy in the way i manage that side of things.

Its just the personal "would love todo" or "Big Picturer" stuff that is a more progressive process that i lose sight of day to day and it always get shoved aside. Anyway...

Then I was right on track when I mentioned the Covey system.

    There is a program by....let me think....Jumsoft, that's it.

A program called Process that lets you setup different goals and projects and track them very effectively. I use it for work-related goals, as my personal ones are stored/reminded elsewhere. I may work for you though, check it out.
