Is there any talk or indication as to whether or not the gaming performance will be increased on Mac? Right now its frustrating gaming on Mac. Although there is a bigger selection of games now, the games practically require at least double the system requirements as the Windows counterparts.

I have a game that is supper choppy on my i5 2.53, 4GB, 330 256MB and the same game runs superb (60fps) on a Windows pc that is an older phenom quad core 2ghz with 4gb of ddr2 ram and a 9500gt. Its quite frustrating...

Apple has never been serious about gaming on Macs and so that being the case, I highly doubt you'll see any change with 10.7

No. We're not even getting OpenGl 4 in 10.7, just 3.2.

The Steam UI is a lot more responsive in DP 3 for me compared to SL

Don't forget that gaming company they purchased from China. :p

Also, I've heard DP3 improves things at least a bit. Can't vouch myself since it's not showing in my System Update list.

I've gone from getting 19-20 fps in Portal 2 on all high settings to 29-30 fps since the update. This is on my base 2011 MacBook Pro 15". This may be in part due to a recent update to Portal 2 involving MSAA performance.

So far my gaming performance has been better in Lion. Lion introduces the Scene Kit API, making it easy to manipulate 3d graphics so also expect more 3d games.

Ok well thanks for the replies everyone. It looks as if nothing is certain (as is usual with Apple). Hopefully they'll fix some things with gaming...
