for a few years now, i've been casually researching some branches of my dad's family, collecting my data and my uncle's (who's taking care of my mom's side) into Reunion.

my research has taken me to england and germany, w/ a lot more work to do.

so far, i've relied on reports from my sole remaining grandparent and data from http://ancestry.co.uk/ and Free BMD. i know at some point, i'm going to have to get better acquainted with the german resources, emigration passenger lists, et. al.

anyone else doing similar research? any good primer books to recommend? my methodology so far has been kind of haphazard, if not accidentally successful. but my next breakthroughs are going to come through more organized and thorough work.

    who else is doing this?
