So its a bit of a long shot, but I was just wondering this looking at the 'How Many Countries/States Have You Been To' thread.

I've met a couple astronauts through work, but are any of the Members here been lucky/good enough to make it into orbit?

My brother works on things that are launched into space, I don't think that counts though.

Haven't been into space, but I used to work as a Reactor Operator on a Submarine. I have been under the ocean for as long as three months at a time.

I hope to go into space sometime before I die. Although it might be atleast 20 years before it becomes common place and cheap enough to get the masses into orbit.

Why yes? I am in space now... well, on a planet that is in space - and no, I am not talking about Mars. :D

Hey he said he was from a planet traveling through space and it wasn't Mars. Well we're here on Earth so it's probably not here either.

On topic. Everyone I know thinks my dad is an alien and that they left him here 3,000years ago. He's the type of guy that you ask him what time it is and he'll tell you how to build a watch.

Well, I'm a little disappointed with some of the replies - I sort of expected half the stupidity. But I was hoping to have something like a discussion on space travel if no one came forward on actually being in space. :(

I've been skydiving. Which temporarily places you in zero gravity.....well, not really, but it feels like it.

VERY VERY cool.....I will be doing it again when I can justify the money. I think everyone should skydive in their life. It's one of the best experiences I've ever had.

I will one day goto space. (hopefully) In 30 or so years when its a sort of common thing. I wouldnt do it right away when the first start bringing the masses even if it is cheap enough. Don't trust it enough at this point from private companies...since none of them have actually made any trips yet.

One of my high school teachers could have been on the Challenger, but his wife got pregnant so he decided to drop out of the selection (at that point it was down to 5)......good thing he stayed....

Who's been up to 10 miles? What's the height that the AirForce give their pilots space wings? Its around 10 miles I think.

Actually that's 12.3 Miles and I'm sure that's considered Space because at that point your above 97% of the atmosphere.
