    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could guide me in the right direction. Earthlink presently hosts my website and has been doing so for the past 6 years. I'm a little weary of changing providers but their customer service sucks lately and I keep having problems with emails bouncing back from customers. However, my site has no down time ever..

Can anyone suggest any other companies which hosts sites and are reputable and reliable?

    Thanks in advance..

I think the overall consensus here is to use ASO - they've received essentially 100% positive feedback here.

I use DreamHost. They're inexpensive and fine for hosting personal sites and offline storage. Their customer service has always been responsive. However, their uptime isn't phenomenal compared to other options out there. So... not a good commercial host, IMHO. Great for families/personal use, though.

Thank you very much for the reply. So it is safe to assume they are good for Commercial sites?

    Thanks again.

I know some people here use them for "small" commercial sites. Hopefully, someone else (who actually uses them) will reply here. :)

thanks, appreciate it. yeah, would love to hear some more about them and any other possible options. I couldn't even place an order today because they were "sold out" for the day, lol.

    I highly reccomend

    Site 5

I currently have the unleashed plan. I like the flexibility of hosting unlimted sites.

I've been a customer for one year now the customer service is great and the the community is a wonderful asset.

You need a dedicated server rather than shared hosting, which will cost you $100 + per month depending on the datacenter and the specs of the server. The Planet is popular. :)

I really need something that expensive? As of now I use 30gb but I'm always right at the limit. Are there no companies that offer a little bit more than 30gb but for shared hosting?

    Thanks.

just curious, but what the heck are you hosting that takes up that much space? I host about 10 sites some with quite a bit of downloadable video and I barely brush on 1 g of space total...

not that it's any of my business. It just seems like a huge amount of data for a web hosting account. If you're talking about bandwidth on a small site with relatively high traffic, that makes sense.

It's going to be pretty spendy I think, even ASO who is normally pretty cheap charges $60/month for 60 gigs of space, and as i see it's for "file hosting only". bah.

lmao at myself. I must have been half a sleep. I meant 300mb lol.. whoops..small typo huh.. That is what I use now, but I do need more than that (can probably live with 330 - 400mb for now)... However, I don't need 30gb...

    I love WestHost.com
They have great customer service and an awesome Member menu. You can install/uninstall things like PHP, WordPress, CGI, etc. all with a few clicks.

After seeing someone link Site5.com, I liked the look of their packages. I'm currently with ASO, but I signed up for Site5 to check it out. I will let you know how it compares.

Site5 has been a wonderful choice for me. I've been developing a Content Management System in Ruby on Rails, and every question I've asked on their forum has been answered in short order by other customers and staff.

    Fast servers, negligible downtime.

    Just want to update:

I'm very happy with site5.com. Their cpanel skin makes the control panel significantly easier to use. Also, they way they manage multiple sites is superior, in my opinion, to what is offered by asmallorange.com

I'm now considering reducing my aso.com package and switching to site5.com as my primary host... will give it a month before I decide for sure.

Thanks for the flow of info..

so site5 seems to be the choice now? I just want as close to 100% as possible, emails that don't bounce back, stats and good customer service..

I have been using ASO for a few months now. I have a few websites on ASO, including my father's business website. I have experienced no downtime so far.

I have used Media Temple and Dreamhost in the past. Media Temple's support is very good, but the way they handle additional domains is rather stupid. Dreamhost is just plain unreliable. They openly boast about how they oversell. Their support is unhelpful: they will admit to a problem, then not be able to fix it for hours. My mother's business website was hosted by them and her email was down for two days straight. They confirmed that there was a problem, but didn't offer a solution. I have since moved her over to ASO.

seems like everyone really likes a company for a period of time then begins to like another.. Now I'm not sure what to do. The other post had so many good things about ASO and Dreamhost. Now people are saying the opposite.. Aso threw me for a loop because initially I went to sign up for them and it said they were no longer taking orders. Didn't seem promising that they couldn't keep up with demand.. guess I will keep reading peoples opinions.. for now at least Earthlink has no down time and my site moves fast.

Maybe I'm a sucker for a big company name but how is Yahoo? seems like they would have good service.

has anyone ever looked at the following list of top rated companies or is it bs?
