Did you end buying one from them? I noticed they have 4 now, but also they haven't received their delivery today. Must be any day I imagine. I'm debating if I should jump on board at this price. Availability is terrible in the UK right now.

No, as you say it showed 4 due but not yet. I might just get the 27UD68 as they are in stock. Main use is PS4 Pro, I'd prefer 1440p as the best resolution for work purposes. I ordered a monitor arm in advance as I will be using dual monitors. :)

Tomorrow I'm receiving a dell 2715Q. Will make some tests and try to make pics with my dslr of the scaled resolution compared to the ATD.

The 68 is great if you don't need the Type C USB for using the monitor as a hub. I plan to connect my 2015 MBP to it using the supplied USB A to C. This will allow me to have my USB speakers and keyboard connected to the monitor. Then display port for video. And eventually HDMI 2.0 for console.

It's now showing 2 due on 27th January! I'm going to give up on it. PC World Business told me to choose another product as they can't order one.

So. I got my Dell 2715Q today. Here are some direct comparison Photos with the TB Display.
I HATE the design of the dell in comparison, but picture clarity is CLEARLY superior. I don't understand how anyone can claim otherwise. Though I can also see that 5k is necessary in the long run and that this is only an intermediate solution with 4k at scaled 1440p.
I did one comparison between the TB Display, the 4k to 1440p and the 4k to 1080p (wich would be what to expect on a future 5k.) It's clearly better, but not as much that I would prefer to keep the TB Display right now.

Still, to me it remains an absolute MYSTERY how anyone can run a 27" display at 1080 hidpi. Everything is so big, wayyyy to big. But I'm glad the 1440p scaled looks great.

I'll keep the dell though. bye bye my apple beauties!

1080p is big on a 27", but it does mean you can move the monitor back and enjoy the benefits that brings.

I favour IQ over a little more screen space, especially since my eyes are sensitive to these things and I get a headache with anything other than 2x mapping.

Good for you Sir! But the amount of screen estate that gets lost with 1080p defies the purpose of a 27" screen IMO.
If you try to get work done, even 1440p doesn't offer enough space.

That was quick! Great job on the photos - as I guessed, quality far surpassed my video!

Completely agree with everything you said in your post. The HiDPI-scaled 1440p on a 4K is brilliant, especially for the low £500/$500 price you pay for a reasonable USB-C enabled 4K IPS display.

I wonder how long it is until you switch scaling to 3008x1692 like I did... ;)

ahaha I have already switched it on the one display for my after effects work. Not feasable for reading a lot IMO, but for looking at the huge timeline and lots of plugins, it's perfect!

I already ordered the 2nd Dell and sold both my TBDs for the same prize actually, so this upgrade cost me about 50 € total :D Great deal.

Still, I'm looking forward to a true 5k solution later this year.
Now if only someone could show how the LG5k looks attached to a mac pro. If the quality is comparable, I would bite myself.

Got my 27UD88 and a load of my PC parts from OcUK - would definitely recommend them.

You occasionally get a free little pack of Haribo with your OcUK deliveries - you don't get that from Amazon ;)

Can't go wrong with Haribo. I've been a member of the forum since 2005 and ordered from them most years. They are great.

Funny how that old salesman trick with free sweets still works :D

They taste so much better when they're free!

Can't go wrong with Haribo. I've been a member of the forum since 2005 and ordered from them most years. They are great.

I hadn't ever ordered from them before until November. I got some of my PC parts from them without any issues. Solid next day delivery service from DPD - plus free Haribo!

I did have an issue with my 27UD88 dispatch/delivery, though. I ordered it intentionally on a Friday morning for Saturday delivery (paid DPD Saturday), however, I never got an update from DPD and the tracking link basically said 'waiting for item to be handed to DPD'. I left it, and assumed it was a glitch and would update by the morning. I woke up in the morning to a text and email from DPD saying something like, 'OcUK didn't handed us your item, so it will not be delivered today'.

Pretty pee'd off and after a self-inflicted 5 hours sleep, I phoned up at 9am. I was on the phone for no longer than 15 minutes before I had a free replacement order made for me with FREE next day Sunday delivery and a refund for my original shipping. So I paid £0.00 shipping fees for my monitor.

Again, no update emails from DPD for most of the day so I phoned back later to check the same thing wasn't about to happen, and I chanced on getting through to the same guy. Without my asking, he literally went downstairs to look in the back of the DPD van to make sure my order was on it and called me back to tell me he'd physically seen it. Sure enough, an hour or so later I got my email and my item was delivered Sunday morning.

So, although I did have an issue with my order, the incredibly good customer service I received won back every ounce of trust I'd lost in this relatively minor hiccup. It was so endearing to find that this kind of customer care does still exist. Think his name was Nathan. Good chap.

Update: The Dell 2715K is still available in the UK at amazon, for the ridiculous prize of 550 €.
I ordered two over there now and will return my 4ks again I guess.
5k, better design and even CHEAPER, it's crazy. Will only believe when they get here.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00R420U8O/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

The UP2715K is £523 on Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-UP271...?ie=UTF8&qid=1484297115&sr=8-1&keywords=2715K

Your link is for the P2715Q, which is 4k.

That is really interesting right now.
As you can see in the text of the link, it contains the 2715K.
Just last night when I posted it, there were several offers, and I have a confirmed order that's preparing for dispatch (I wonder if it will ever happen, or if these turn out to be alike out too! (That would be a bad joke really). But you guys are right, now I don't get any search results anymore either. What is going on??

I'm interested to see what turns up at your door - could be anything at this rate! :p

I assume they just sold out so automatically hid the listing.

I'm curious too. The price is absolutely ridiculous haha. But it might be partly because of the super weak pound, and because it's two refurb models in my case.

Still - there were at least 6 other offers. How can they all be sould out so quickly? My guess is more that I'll receive an email soon that my order got cancelled (AGAIN) cause they actually ran out of supply and just didnt update their system, just like amazon.DE.
But let's see.

Check the sellers feedback and how long they have been trading. Need to make sure they are legit.

Yea well they have been in business for over a year and 168 ratings at 4,9 stars.
It's an amazon warehouse offer, so it means it should come directly from an amazon logistics center.
Still prepping for dispatch...

I'm debating if I should save some money and go for the Dell P2415Q. 4k running at HiDPI 1920x1080 should look a lot better on a 23.4" panel as opposed to a 27". The only thing is I won't be able to play get 60fps via HDMI. However I'm debating if that's even going to be a problem since I've always gamed on a TV.

They can be had for around £350, compared to the £500 of the LG 27UD88. The LG does look a lot nicer on the desk though.

Awesome. I got an email:

"We are very sorry but we will be unable to help you with your order today. We are one of many UK Amazon sellers that have been the victim of an Amazon seller hack.

Please cancel your order ASAP. Also, on the listing of your product it requests that you send an email to ribeir0barr – DO NOT EMAIL THIS ACCOUNT, IT IS A SCAM.

If you are concerned about your Amazon account then please call Amazon on 08004961081.

We are sorry for the confusion which is totally beyond our control, we have done nothing to cause this problem."

so.. no 5k for me -_-

Amazon marketplace is an absolute train wreck. Never buy from Amazon unless it's actually from Amazon, that's what I always stick to.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hope you get your cash back buddy.
