Anyone else seeing this network error in Console?

"AppleBCM5701Ethernet: timeoutOccurred: recovering from dropping link-down change interrupt"

This is happening very often under 10.8.3, specially when trying to reload web pages...does this mean the 10.8.2 Ethernet woes are still there?

Just checked console and I'm not seeing that error message on 2012 13" MBA with 10.8.3. Are you seeing the Internet connection drop?

BRLawyer, yours is the first and only mention I've found, anywhere.

I can confirm this weird error.

Here on a Mac12,1 @ 2.50 GHz (x 4), 4096 MB RAM OS X 10.8.3 (12D78) - (mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged))

My findings show that the error starts recurring only upon resume from a first sleep. i.e. directly after a reboot there are no such errors.

I've also encountered no such errors when booting an external USB-drive with 10.6.8 (SnowLeopard) - which leads me to beileve it's not an actual hardware issue.

Frustrating!

Just checked console and I'm not seeing that error message on 2012 13" MBA with 10.8.3. Are you seeing the Internet connection drop?

The connection doesn't seem to "drop" per se, but I've seen this happen relatively often when trying to reload a web page (or move back to a previous one, thus leading to a reload).

In other words, if it "drops" it's really for a short moment, returning to normal right after this reloading issue - extremely annoying anyway, PARTICULARLY since the wake-from-sleep Ethernet issue identified in 10.8.2 has been widely reported to Apple.

Time to hire more engineers for OS X, it seems.

Hi guys, I'm seeing this error in Console.app as well - since the day before yesterday. I upgraded to 10.8.3 last weekend, so I'm not sure if the error is directly related to the update.

Like BRLawyer said, it seems the error is logged almost every time I open a new webpage. But it doesn't have any effect on my connectivity - no problems with Safari or any other apps... weird stuff.

@ Macsalot, I can confirm that the error is gone after a reboot, but re-appears after the first sleep.

I've had it with those errors - first the mdworker & sandboxd errors (that didn't get fixed in 10.8.3, not for me at least) and now this ethernet stuff.
It's really frustrating.

If you are not seeing any actual problem, other than error messages being left in the logs, then there is no problem.
It may be that the bug is an error condition being flagged when it shouldn't, i.e. the log messages itself is an error.

Running a continuous ping to my router reveals a definite, albeit short loss of connectivity (a second or less). This, however, keeps happening _every_ few minutes.

Now, if one is not paying too close attention, the effect may be hardly noticeable but a recurring drop in the link is a real and verifiable glitch.

The only workaround I've found is to manually reset the en0 interface after every wake from sleep.

Not good at all.

Yeah I'm getting that too. New in 10.8.3 I think.

27" 2011 iMac Ethernet to Switch to Time Capsule. No apparent actual effect on network performance that I can discern, but it's pretty annoying.
