The battery in my wifes macbook quit working a few weeks ago. She called Apple and they arranged to send her a new one in "3-5 business days." After 6 business days had passed and no battery she called and was told it was shipped, was given an order tracking #, and told to wait a few more days.

After 8 business days she checked online and it said "item pending shipment." After 9 business days she called again and was told it was not shipped, they don't have enough stock, don't know when they will get them in stock, and it will be sent as soon as they do.

Today is business day 10, so over 2 full weeks and she's stuck tethered to the powercord.

First off, I'm really PISSED off she was told it was shipped when it wasn't. I really wish she had that guys name and/or rep id. Second, I have a hard time believing that in 2 full weeks they haven't been able to fulfil her order for a new battery. That tells me that a) there is a complete battery shortage b) there are so many batteries being replaced there are too many people ahead of her to get one.

Now I know all about the recall, millions and millions of them. But is that in any way responsible for this long of a wait for a battery? I was just in Frys the other day and could have bought one on the spot for $129. But why do that when its covered?

Really disappointed in applecare service and we are new mac owners within the last 6mo.

Yes, my black Macbook was shutting down as soon as you removed the plug (though the battery indicator showed a charge). I set up an appointment with the geniuses at the Apple store in Kansas City and they replaced the battery on the spot.

I was pretty happy with the experience, so I'm sorry to hear that yours hasn't worked out so well.

    Same here

I'm still waiting on a replacement battery for my MacBook, too; if it doesn't ship soon, I'll just grumble and head over to the nearest Apple store (if they can cancel the online shipment and let me do it that way).

Well we would have taken it to the apple store where we bought it but she's out of town for a few weeks and they don't have one within hundreds of miles. Would have been better if she'd overnighted me the macbook and I took it to our apple store, the overnighted it back.

How long have you been waiting samherst?

    Northern Hemisphere
Apple Store shows it as estimated to ship within 24h. Maybe they should fix that v_v.

They put in the parts request on Dec. 4, so not too long.

Her replacement order was on Nov 22. Her frustration (and mine) has about peaked over this situation. The really crappy thing about it is there is an authorized apple repair center where she is, but they told her they would have to ship the entire macbook back to apple instead of being able to swap the battery.

The wait continues with no end in site.

I've been waiting since Dec 1st for my replacement battery and for the screen fix. They are really backed up with all the crappy QC.

I did recieve a replacement battery before sending it in, but there was a crack in the outer plastic casing. I was so pissed.

Macbook batteries should be redesigned. It's sad when one of the display macbooks (white) at my university computer store has this problem of the battery not being recognized/"present".

but then again its handled by probably hundreds of people a day.
