The battery in my wifes macbook quit working a few weeks ago. She called Apple and they arranged to send her a new one in "3-5 business days." After 6 business days had passed and no battery she called and was told it was shipped, was given an order tracking #, and told to wait a few more days. After 8 business days she checked online and it said "item pending shipment." After 9 business days she called again and was told it was not shipped, they don't have enough stock, don't know when they will get them in stock, and it will be sent as soon as they do. Today is business day 10, so over 2 full weeks and she's stuck tethered to the powercord. First off, I'm really PISSED off she was told it was shipped when it wasn't. I really wish she had that guys name and/or rep id. Second, I have a hard time believing that in 2 full weeks they haven't been able to fulfil her order for a new battery. That tells me that a) there is a complete battery shortage b) there are so many batteries being replaced there are too many people ahead of her to get one. Now I know all about the recall, millions and millions of them. But is that in any way responsible for this long of a wait for a battery? I was just in Frys the other day and could have bought one on the spot for $129. But why do that when its covered? Really disappointed in applecare service and we are new mac owners within the last 6mo.
