Whenever I try to watch a video from music.aol.com, I get a Safari-generated message "Sorry, there was a problem retrieving all the data for this content" (the video doesn't even start to play). Everything worked fine a couple of months ago, but I'm at a loss as to what I should be looking at to try to fix the problem. Has anyone else had this error?

    Thanks :)

I don't use AOL but they seem to be working for me on a PPC version of the latest Safari release. Do you have any specific links to videos that don't work?

Whoops, I completely forgot about this thread. I can't seem to get any videos to work, but here's an example of one I've having trouble with.

Played just fine in Safari on my MacBook.

...Although I'm not sure why you'd want to play it. ;) :p

Heh, it's just an example, don't read too much into it :p

So it worked for both of you? I tried Firefox and it didn't work there either - it seemed to think I was running on Windows as it tried to install an ActiveX extension.

Here's the contents of my /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, am I missing anything that the two of you have?

I got this error. It's strange because some of the movies are working for me but apparently not this one.

    Picture 1.png

The movie didn't play at all with Safari 2.0.4 on a PPC machine with the following plugins.

    Code:
    nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
    DRM Plugin.bundle
    NPSVG3Carbon
    Flash Player Enabler.plugin
    QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
    Flip4Mac WMV Plugin.plugin
    NPSVG3.zip
    VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin
    Quartz Composer.webplugin
    flashplayer.xpt
    NP-PPC-Dir-Shockwave
    Java Applet Plugin Enabler
    Java Applet.plugin
    iPhotoPhotocast.plugin
    JavaPluginCocoa.bundle
    Flip4Mac WMV Plugin.webplugin
    Flash Player.plugin
    QuickTime Plugin.plugin

I hold Nermal personally responsible for this problem.

Have you noticed a pattern in which movies play and which don't. ...Some AOL music videos are flash and others (I believe most) are quicktime.

I don't use AOL and I've only checked out a couple of movies for the purpose of this thread so I haven't noticed any trends yet, but I'll see what I can come up with. I'll also try reinstalling Flash. :)

Hmm, this is a very unusual problem! I've tried both Safari and Firefox and neither of them work, and Firefox tried to install a Windows Media extension. I suppose it's possible that AOL uses Windows Media if you're on Windows, and QuickTime on Mac. I'll try removing Flip4Mac and see what happens.

Nermal, we suck. I'm determined to get to the bottom of this. When you view the source code for the link you provided earlier, did it give a massive list of quite specific errors?

Yep, it certainly does! I've tried doing a search for ".mov" to find the actual video file, but it's not there.

If it's not too much trouble, can one of the people who has this working post their source code from Nermal's link please. That'd be awesome. :)

Sorry, I was working when I should have been MacRumoring. I'm so ashamed. ;)

Here's the source code (you wanted all of it, right?)...

EDIT: OK, it's 24,043 characters too many; I'll try to get it up shortly.
