I don't know why I find this article disturbing. I mean, it really shouldn't bother me. But it does. Maybe it is just the politics of the area that makes it more disturbing. Maybe it is the overtones that the series is being given with Dirk being German. Maybe it is the "you have to support Israel if you root for Miami and If you root for Dallas, your rooting for the Palestinians" undertone of it all. Maybe it is all in my head.

maybe it's the idea that sports is important enough to call for israelis to pray at the western wall.

meh, I don't watch the NBA, period, anymore. Wouldn't have known who's playing but for the OP's post. But to drag Israel along in to it is definitely excess luggage.

That's what happens when people let their religion overtake the rest of their public life. It's ok to be religious folks, but no one wants to hear about it. Plus, something tells me the fellas from Texas think God is on their side too. ;)

    You're kidding, I hope ?

There is a large difference in reading between the lines, and filling in a bunch of BS that isn't there.

    In news of equal importance,

I'm about to go have a sandwich.

Probability of it being sarcasm: 99.9999%.

    EDIT: See?

I also do not get why it matters. If they need the help from Judaism, then so be it. Yahweh makes a great 6th man!

I think it was the thought that (as was addressed just a couple of posts after I posted this) the NBA Championship is something that merits a calling out to the Wailing Wall for prayer. It seems so insignificant in the grand scheme of things - I would think that paying for neighborly peace would be more important. The rest of my post was just me finding the Dirk/German thing to be a fun twist, especially since I really want the German to pick up his game and thrash the Heat. But, I kind of do feel like he was trying to pull a "to be a good Israeli/Jew, you've got to root for the Heat" type thing.

i think that nbs was just pointing that out again though, showing how silly it is to think that god cares about sports results.

Perhaps expanding from Judaism would have help his argument then.
