Flyover is a disappointing feature, not necessarily because it's not at all useful, but because the rollout is so unbearably slow that it's just become a forgotten feature for majority of the population. If Apple can be flying drones 24/7 across the world why does it take so long to add locations? I know there is a data analysis piece, but this trickle pace is not useful. Of course it doesn't help that I've never lived in a flyover location (one was added shortly to previous location after I moved a couple years ago). There also seems to be no improvement on the feature over time. And what about all these "street view" cars that Apple has been driving around?

Hoping for a big maps update in iOS 10

Middlesbrough? Friggin Middlesbrough!? ;)

Middlesbrough will be the least ever looked at Apple Maps, guarenteed. Why still no Amsterdam??

I know, I'm from Newcastle, I can understand why loads of other cities around the world and even in the UK are ahead of us, but Middlesbrough? It should be one of the last places added. Can they even see anything in flyover through all the smog?

Took the words out of my mouth, all they will see is smog! I'm from Newcastle too and don't understand why they haven't added us!

Would be nice if they added Athens, Greece as a flyover location. It's a very nice city to see from the air, especially the Acropolis.

Kinda like Flyover, at least for its eye candy, but at this pace I might not live to see the day that my own city is added. :/

I find it curious that they do these flyovers during the spring and summer months. If they shot these cities in the winter time they would have much better street coverage as most of the trees have huge canopies that block a lot of the city. I suppose the aesthetic of a lush city is prettier though, albeit less practical.

Springfield!?! Woot! Our little tiny town gets the flyover treatment! Although it still doesn't seem to show up when I go to Springfield on either OS X or iOS. Makes me wonder if they did it on one of the other like 8 Springfields in the US and accidentally listed the MO one.

Apple's priority when adding new Flyover cities is so weird, in my country (Mexico) they already mapped all Ensenada with is a city with barely over 500,000 inhabitants and little architectural interest, while Mexico City with over 21 million inhabitants and several architectural, landscape and urban attractions and interest points, visited by many tourists, remains without Flyover ._.

Ok, now I'm just angry, lol. You're telling me they added Springfield, MO before Kansas City, MO? What the actual hell?

Yep, just confirmed it in maps. Doesn't make any sense. There's like three buildings over five stories in Springfield. What the crap!

Seems to be quite a delay between taking the maps and them being available. The 3D map for Adelaide was taken either late December 2013 or early January 2014 - that's two whole years ago.

I love these complaints. "Waaaah, why do I have to have two features instead of just one?"

Because between Apple and Google, you get two features. Enjoy. (If such is even possible, amidst this grim hell of innovative, awesome, utterly free goodies...)

Lets see what's more useful:
1) helicopter view
2) street view

Since I don't own a chopper yet I still need street view.

Calm down, Apple's superior version of Streetview is coming.

I'd like to see them fix bugs in maps also, but I hope they wouldn't do it by grounding the pilots who collect the imagery and the 3D specialists who clean up the raw imagery. They wouldn't be very good at fixing bugs in the code, and would probably make it worse.

yeah, you're right. still it seems a bit annoying that little gimmicks get added, but crucial bugs (like country specific address parsing) don't get fixed for years.

Flyover is not generated by drone data.

Apple bought the company that generated the 'flyover' views.
