2015 Hyundai Sonata with Nav upgrade will be compatible with CarPlay with a paid software update / SD card for the car. This is tentative and awaiting release sometime in Q1 2016...

I guess Toyota nor Nissan are not "major automobile manufacturer" according to Apple since they say all major have them implemented or will have it. Lol. And yes I know Toyota went a different route.

Good thing Ferrari is getting this done. If I can ever afford a car above Honda I will have a feature to look forward to.

here and there but not over there
Mercedes has most models on there ... except the brand new GLC ... why not on a brand new model? (which happens to be on my wish list together with a few others not listed here - while car play wouldn't be the deciding factor, it could bring - carplay would have been a way to move up on the list for possible replacement cars)

Looks like my next car will be from this list. Not a joke. CarPlay beats the pants out of anything any auto maker can do. I like my iOS stuff. I don't want to learn or deal with a new interface every time I get in a car.

Why no Mercedes GLS? It is being refreshed for this year...in the 2017 model! Darn!

There's barely any affordable cars in the SUV/Crossover segment... Hopefully they'll spruce up the selection before I get in the market for a new car

No kidding. I keep reading that cars, sedans for sure, are on the decline because people like me prefer SUV's and trucks. What can I say, I like to sit a bit taller with room for more than one passenger.

Yeah, my next car would ideally be a high-clearance 4x4 so I could get to some hard to reach places (off-road in national parks and forests for landscape photography) and apart from the Tiguan there isn't much... And like, almost every other Chevrolet is listed, but the Trax, then no Mazda, no Jeep, no Toyota... Although somewhat of a minor feature, I would much rather my next car comes with it...

Volkswagen seems to have more if you ask me, I count more models on the above list than Mercedes.

And none are useful without wireless capability

That has to be the most shortsighted thing I've ever read...do you not plug in and charge your phone in your car? I'm using CarPlay exclusively in my new XC90, it's useful enough to replace the Sensus system. Hey, how's that Android Auto looking?

Also, you assume that all of these are not wireless capable with nothing to go on. My car has a WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth radio...I imagine that one of those might happen to cover a wireless protocol such as AirPlay or WiFi Direct, wouldn't you? Or are you under the impression that specialized radio chips will need to be installed in all of these cars?

Won't be long until Ford updates to SYNC 3 in the F150/Explorer 2016 models. This will allow all to run Apple Car Play.

Why is Mazda still not onboard?
They are supposedly a partner, listed on Apple's CarPlay page, but they're totally dragging their feet on it. I'm looking at new cars right now and I want a Mazda but honestly this is a big issue for me. Just things like bringing up mapping, if it's in my iPhone's Contacts and I have CarPlay, I tap and it loads up. With Mazda Connect, I have to manually enter that address from scratch, it's really annoying. Plus it most likely won't have current updates as it uses old-school DVD loading for mapping data.

Theoretically they could add support for CarPlay with a software update but if I'm making a $30K purchase, how confident can I be that they'll do that. They've been totally silent on the matter.

Last week I was looking at the new Civics and Accords and they support CarPlay right now, and are nice cars. If I'm on the fence between two cars, CarPlay support could very well tip me one way or the other. Not a smart business decision for Mazda IMO.

You're right to not be confident, Hyundai Sonata owners were actually promised CarPlay and didn't get it last year...I'd imagine silence means a flat out "no" in this case. There's a class action law suit brewing against Hyundai for this as well.
