The move to forego plans for another store between 18th and 19th Street makes sense to me because it is fairly close to the existing Soho location on Prince Street and also would have been within 5 or 6 blocks of TekServe. I will be pleased to spend time at the new place in the GM Building ... that will most likely draw a substantial crowd with the good midtown location and the beginning of Central Park.

Makes sense. The GM Building store is going to be a better use of resources.

To be clear, they'll still have two flasgship stores there, just not three. The biggest one (GM building) is still going forward.

Probably has something to do with the fight they've been having trying to do what they want with the place. They've been trying to design it with a compromise between form, function, and local code, but so far have been able to get it approved. So they'll just scrap it and go somewhere else.
