Apple execs tout new midrange Power Mac G5

    so does this mean apple will bring in dual chips to the entire line as i'm sure the 1.6s will not be selling very well now.

    which means single G5s could find their way into the iMacs....:D this is a good thing!

    Also makes me wonder if that extra 400MHz is worth the extra $500.

    Actually, since I'm running a 450MHz g4 at home I'd have to say yes....;)

    To me this does not indicate to an all dual line; wishful thinking aside this is very similar to the previous product line and I think it should remain that way. If you still can not afford an Apple system either entry or mid-level then work harder and keep saving because these systems are unbelievably low in price and extremely high in performance....great job so far Apple keep it up and we'll see 10-15% market share yet.

    well, we probably won't see an all dual line, but who knows. The next revision of the G5 will be the indicator here and come MWSF '04 all sorts of good things could be showing up.
