    I know it shouldn't be, but this is the key:

    Because CSIRO is a government organisation, they put all their earnings back into further research, not having to worry about investors and meeting quarterly profit results etc. Of course, I can see why it doesn't and never could come down to this though. I just reckon it'd benefit the industry as a whole to continue paying royalties to them. It'd be a different story if they were a private company though.

    If the patent is valid, then they should get the money, whoever they are. I am sure if the others challenging this held the intellectual property, they wouldn't let it go easily.
