iBook G4 1.33 768mB ram, using CS (the first version)

Tried it twice, once with only PS running, and again with Safari running as well, but it made no difference, both times the same.

42 Seconds flat, timed it twice. Gonna try it on my old 400 Mhz G4 now and see, might get a slightly better time if I load CS2...

Photoshop CS
Dual 2.7 GHz G5,
GeForce 6800 Ultra GT DDL
2x400GB Serial ATA
4GB RAM
30" Apple Cinema Monitor

12 mins 50 secs...

Photoshop 7.0.1
400 MHz G4
ATI Rage 128 Pro
1GB PC100 RAM

Now I wonder what my original 512K "Fat Mac" with 68K Motorola Processor (8 MHz CPU speed processor), 512K of RAM and OS 1.1 will do? If I can even get the 1.3MB jpeg file on there and if MacPaint has radial blur, hmmm...

i was confused for a second. i did it on "good" quality and got 56 seconds on my 500 MHz 640 MB G4. i thought no way it could be that fast and then realized it wasn't on best.

Curious, maybe I should try it with a digital stopwatch and see if it makes a difference, I used my analog seconds hand starting at the top of the dial. Not that 2 seconds makes a difference, lol... :D

Am I the Winner?

Ok on the same G5 D2.7ghz 2.5gb ram 2x250Hd,

PS 7 = 45sec as posted earlier
PS CS2 Demo = 39sec

I was told that CS2 was optimized for G5s, that works out at about 15% thats incredible :)

good benchmark for my machine, makes sense then that using Photoshop CS that my setup would come in at 42 seconds between CS2 and 7.0.?

wow!

I have 7 mins. on a 1 ghz 17" iMac 768 MB Tiger

Oh, I was also encoding H.264 with Handbrake 2 pass with Deinterlacing. Also, Safari, iTunes, and Dashboard were running.

Not too bad, eh?

I also noticed the 1.67 Powerbooks were keeping up with the 2 GHZ iMac G5s. Go G4s!

I wanted to see what it would do after Handbrake is finished, but I didn't want to wait 20 hours to take the test!

I.

PB 17" Speed.

Hi -

I ran this test on my PowerBook 1.33G with 1.5 G Ram and Photoshop 8.

It crunched the picture in 2 minutes 20 seconds.

Our Dual 2.7 GHz PowerMac with 4.5 G of RAM running Photoshop 8 crunched it in 39 seconds (Automatic Processor Speed & Highest - no difference).

----
But why take such a beautiful picture of a horse and turn it into a brown goo run through a spin cycle... that is the question.

----
Another thing to look at - if you are using Tiger, and have the Xcode tools loaded - try Core Image Fun House. It doesn't have the Radial Blur, but it does have a host of similar image processing filters - and runs very fast. A nice little demo application for Core Image.

Nice Thread.

I think the owner of this threa (mak) should take this data and compile it into a nice little spreadsheet or something, categorized by configuration, etc. :)
