Hi All, I've been considering purchasing an 17" iMac for the last few weeks. I need help on how a Mac will work with what I want to do. 1: Wireless Router. I am thinking about going with either a Linksys or a D-Link. Need to connect the following items to the Net; Windows Laptop (2), Mac, PS2. Reasons for not going with Airport Extreme: I figure having all of the same equipement will be better than mixing and matching wireless gear. I will connect the Mac directly to the router. Laptops will have wireless cards. PS2 will use a wireless bridge. I don't know if Apple makes a wireless bridge, but I couldn't find one. So, is there any reason to go with Airport Extreme over the other ones? I know some knuckleheads from work that are able to get their routers working, so how hard could it be? I've done some searches but would like some opions on my specific set up. Also, file sharing between Win and Mac is not really needed. 2: Like I said, I like the iMac and have sound card questions. Listening to some songs in the Apple store, the pro speakers sound OK at best. I would really like to upgrade the speakers. I will most likely go with some Klipschs. How do you upgrade the speakers? Is there a line out or is some sort of USB connection? What if you want to do Dolby Digital? Can you upgrade the sound card? If no, how would you go about getting surround sound? 3: Does anybody purchase .Mac or the Apple Care Plan? I am on the fence about .Mac. I like the idea of creating a home page but don't know if the $70 is worth it. Has anyone that purchased .Mac feel that they got their money's worth? Is the virus scan decent? What else has anybody used in .Mac that you find useful? Of course, all of this might be moot depending on what happens at WWDC. Thanks in advance, Lame - selfishly hoping for a 970 iMac.
