Like what seems to be many of us out there I pre-ordered Tiger on April 13th and my order didn't arrive today.

I called Apple today, not to yell or go crazy on the poor customer service rep that had to field my call, but just to say I was dissappointed and that had I known it would be a problem, I would have driven an hour and a 1/2 to the store to pick it up.

He asked me to hold to check my account and came back and said that once I am charged and the order is shipped, I can call back and they will credit my account $30.00. (what he called a "customer satisfaction credit")

Nothing spectacular, but at least they stepped up to the plate and did something for me, with just a simple calm phone call expressing my dissappointment.

Wow, I'd wait until Monday for Tiger if it meant getting 30 bucks! :D

Yes, I'm very sorry you didn't receive Tiger, but I'm glad Apple has offered you something. You deserve something, for they let you down in this case. At least Monday will be here before you know it.

So i'm guessing those of us who haven't recieved confirmation that it has shipped are out of luck until monday? This is a load of crap man. I'm calling first thing monday and making an extremely big deal out of this to them. $30 is nothing, but i hope they understand i will not preorder another product from their online store after this. You don't promise someone a delivery at such and such a time only to screw them over by not delivering. I might take iLife '05 over the $30 but we'll see. It's the more expensive option as iWork is only $50 for education users with iLife being like $65 or something along those lines. I was hyped to get to work on a few projects with XCode 2 as well this weekend, shot that idea down.

EDIT: actually.. i wonder if they'll include a key for QT 7 Pro? Might be worth a shot.

I just got off the phone with Apple. I called to inquire about the status of my Tiger, which as of 9pm EST, hadn't shipped yet. She was very nice and apologized for the delay. As compensation I was offered a choice between one of the following:

    iLife '05
    iWork '05
    $30 off future order

I didn't even have to ask. She was very nice. I sat on hold maybe 10 minutes. Call in and get your free stuff if your order hasn't shipped yet.

I preordered on the 12th at 4 PM EST. My order did not ship from PA, where I live, until 10:35 PM last night, the 28th. Why Apple thought it would get to me on time with 2 day FedEx shipping is beyond my comprehension, but after talking to four reps on the preceding two days who reassured me I would have my order by 4:30 tonight, I was okay with this delay.

Fast forward to this afternoon and my order is reported as traveling from Middletown, PA (1 hour west of me by I-80) to Newark, NJ (6 hours east of me on I-80). Thus, it had driven past me around 9:45 this morning. So, I called Apple to ask what this would mean for receiving my order. Around 2:30, the Apple rep assured me I would have my order by this evening. Fast forward another two hours, and my order had not arrived. I waited until 5:00 to call Apple, checked FedEx once more and saw that it was now in, of all places, Tennessee! That's going to help. I called Apple and the rep told me to give it until the end of the day (though FedEx stops delivering at 5:00) and to call back tomorrow.

I went out to dinner to celebrate graduation, came back, and still no Tiger. I called Apple again at 9:30 EST and, after waiting FOREVER, I talked to a rep who was very snotty with me, even telling me that "the delivery date was only a suggested date." After expounding the notion that I had not done anything wrong and have been waiting for 17 days for my order, the rep's advice was...hold on to your back tomorrow. She claimed there was nothing that had been formalized as compensation, that there may not be and that she was not authorized to offer me anything.

I was upset, to say the least. I didn't want to wait until Monday and I REALLY didn't want to call back again. I have called Apple 8 times within the last week. I even talked to representatives in Ireland! I felt vaguely like I had been lied to and generally abused.

Now, to find out that you folks have been offered compensation in software and credit without asking, I am fuming. How can Apple treat loyal customers like they have treated me? This is absurd. I have a bit of leverage now, but I shouldn't have to beg them to do the right thing.

And I shouldn't have to wait until Monday for my preorder while retail customers are enjoying Tiger on Friday evening. Total BS.

I called apple just before the stated closing time. I expected a very long wait but only had to wait 3 minutes (I asked about that, she said I was in the Canadian queue which is much shorter). I chatted with the girl (she was very nice) and appologized for being the billionth caller about tiger, she laughed and said it should be in my hot hands by Monday. I said that was great and then said "what is apple offering in compensation?" She told me to hold on and then came back with the offer of iLife 05 (I have iWork), wouldn't combine the two and offered me all kinds of other do dads (she thought when I said I had iWork that I had iLife):

any ONE of the above was also offered,
    AV hook up for iBook
    iPod case
25 itunes bucks (but she miss read what she could offer so that was taken off the table)

Anywho, call apple for free swag!!

And as advice to my fellow recent grad above, just call again and ask for some compensation, some representitives are more helpful than others.

I just called about my shipment and asked if there was some sort of compensation. They told me yes and were offering iLife and iWork. I told them that i already had copies of those and it took awhile for them to find something they could get me. I wanted a QT Pro 7 key but they wouldn't allow it and i settled for an iTrip for my iPod.

Cool. You could have always sold the iWork on ebay, but the iTrip is good compensation too!

    in constant state of wonder
I ordered my Tiger....waited for 2 weeks...nothing. Today got an e-mail confirmation of shipment by MADIA MAIL. That means another week! Should I call Apple and ask for that compensation as well?
