I have a weird vision about the Apple PDA that probably will never appear since the Newton pretty much ruined it. Here it is:

500 Mhz G3 (might as well put it to use cuz it is pretty much outdated)
4 inch Active Matrix TFT LCD Screen (think pocket PCs, but bigger and better)
QWERTY keyboard built in AND stylus input
    64 MB RAM or more
    1 USB or 1 Firewire
    IR port
Some form of iTunes ( like iTunes lite or something)
    A little speaker
    Microphone
A small 1 or 2 gig HD ( maybe some form of the microdrive?)
A new version of OSX that doesnt take up so much space (like a OSX for pocket Apple)
Really cool Apple-esque type casing and styling
An expansion slot ( maybe CF or PC Card for modems and things)

I think this has now become the standard response to all Apple PDA threads.....too bad it will have to wait until Monday when he gets back. He might not see it which is all for the best, he'd just close it....;)

I think this is purely a speculation... We won't know what an Apple PDA might offer, or if Apple will even make a PDA in the near future. I think we would all like to see one, but is there really any evidence that Apple is even developing a device like this ??? If anyone can find valid evidence feel free to let us know...

I'd close it...but I don't think it would be fair to everyone...aside from abusing my privileges, I'm sure arn wouldn't be too happy...

but all that said...it just seems pointless to keep bringing up this topic...

I mean...there's no evidence or any rumor from anywhere to even justify breaking open this can of worms...

Anyone who even suggests a keyboard on a handheld pda should have their thread closed and priviledges revoked(IMO). ;)

I bet if there was a poll on the number of consumers who wanted a keyboard on handheld pda's because it was faster and you asked them if they could truly type on a real computer keyboard, you'd find that most were hunt and peck'ers and probably pretty horrible typists. Those tiny keyboards like the one on the Sharp and Handspring units are not faster. They're there for those too lazy to learn how to write on the units.

Just a little bit of a sore spot for me. ;)

    Long live the Newton.

Although one might be a little far fechted, we can always hope.

But maybe we should stop this thread. I mean soon Macrumors.com is going to have to open a "Newton/Apple PDA" section!!!
