Apple Expands Personal Pickup to Six More European Countries

Apple today expanded its Personal Pickup in-store pickup service to France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden. The launch of Personal Pickup in Germany was first noted by Macerkopf, and MacRumors subsequently confirmed the wider European expansion of the service.

Personal Pickup allows customers to place an order on the Apple Online Store or Apple Store app and pick it up at a nearby Apple Retail Store, generally within an hour. The service is offered for several Apple products, including Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs and the Apple Watch.

Apple notifies customers via email or text message when an order is available for in-store pickup with a valid photo ID.

Personal Pickup launched in the U.S. in 2011, but was unavailable elsewhere until last month. The service first expanded to Australia and Canada on November 17 before going live in the United Kingdom three days later.

Personal Pickup has yet to launch in other countries and regions with an Apple retail store presence, including Belgium, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

MacRumors broke the news in early November that Apple was planning an international expansion of Personal Pickup in Australia, France, United Kingdom and other countries, and the service is now live in all of those countries.

I'm really glad that I am not the only one who thinks this. Something about the girl seems off, maybe just photochopped.

Pretty useless for the majority of Germans since there are only about 10 cities, where we actually have an Apple Store. And every in-stock Apple product is at your door within 24 hours if you place your order before noon.

Apple is currently telling employees they're going to be changing the name to 'Apple Store Pickup' over the coming weeks. I understand the change, but I like Personal Pickup better.

Good news, I'll chose this option to buy refurbished products and have them delivered to the nearest Apple Store. Of course I'll have to wait for the delivery but I won't have the hassle to deal with couriers

Most of the time, the Apple store near me is so packed on the days I have available to buy something, it's a chore to have to go in and grab someone to actually serve me, and on top of that they offer you everything under the sun as extras - I've been waiting for the pick up service in the UK for years.

I dislike the buying experience in the apple shops, it's fine when it's quiet but on a weekend it's awful

Yeah this is needless criticism. The woman in the photo is actually a friend of mine who worked as an Apple employee for a brief time, ended up getting photographed for the campaigns in the actual Apple Store where she worked, and has left the company. She is self employed and does a lot of volunteer work with handicapped children and adults.

I'm actually happy about this service here in Italy.

Sure, I want to drive over 3 hours in Dutch traffic or pay for an expensive train ticket. Apple should just spread their Apple Stores more, it just doesn't make sense to clutter them together like they do here.
