That feed is pretty much the only news on this subject. I've looked for a bit and it's all the same paragraph as in the feed.

It's on their hotnews page. This is their statement:

    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/

Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.

what is the problem with homosexual people getting married? i do not want any religious crap, because the church and state are supposed to be separate.

The only reasons ever given ARE religious. It has nothing to do with anything else.

Ppl I have talked to have an issue with calling it "marriage" they don't necessarily have an issue with gay ppl getting married they just don't want it called marriage and hurt what they call "the true sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman". in which I replied, in this day and age when ppl get divorced more times then they change their underwear, where is the sanctity in that?

For those not aware. Proposition 8 is on the November ballot in California. It would amend our state constitution to eliminate the right of people to marry the person of their choice. People would only have the option to marry a person of the opposite sex.

The only reason for eliminating this right is a religious one.

It is also something to consider at the National level where a candidate like McCain will also try and take this away from people. Despite what he claims is just a state issue.

I find it more interesting how adept Google is at this at times.

This thread already has a "Vote No on 8" ad. :D

Then again, not like this thread is very cryptic.

Including an explanation in the original post might help those (like myself) who didn't know what Prop 8 is.

A very noble and much needed announcement from Apple. Hopefully, Apple's public "coming out" against this Prop will give the No on 8 campaign the extra 1-2% it needs to defeat this barbaric proposition.

And as a thanks, time to buy a new iPod! :D

And $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign will help, too.

    Here's a perm link from MacNN http://www.macnn.com/articles/08/10/24/apple.fights.prop.8/

Really I don't get the whole ban union/marriage thing...

All B.S. arguments aside, gay marriage is between two consenting adults, and there isn't a law that can be written to stop anyone from calling it a marriage.

Can we move on to more important issues in the world now?

    K thks bi <-pun intended :p

They got my vote...and I didn't need Apple to support it to know that it is the right thing to do.
