Worth the $99 upgrade price if you need one of the new features like mixing video formats on the same time line. I'll wait until I have a specific need for doing that then upgrade. I think i like Soundtrack But seeing as I only have DV I may pass on this one. This looks good for new users but I doubt many people will buy the upgrade

    Education Pricing

They slashed prices on FCE by 33% for non-educators, but increased it by 20% for education buyers.

Are they trying to turn away education buyers?

What I find interesting is that with my education discounts, FCE costs $179.00 and Adobe Production Premium costs $314.00. What is included in the $135.00 difference? Full Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Soundbooth, Encore, Flash, etc. This is a completely no brainer.

    $314.00 is at collegesoftware.org

Yeah but Premiere sucks compared to Final Cut.

I'd buy both. After Effects and Photoshop are indispensible! But if you're on a budget, Adobe's bundle does sound attractive. Still, if editing is your primary interest, I think Final Cut will get you a lot farther than Premiere.

When I bought Final Cut Pro 3 Academic, it was $300. Now, it's $699. Of course now it includes DVD Studio Pro (which I bought separately) and newer software like Color, Soundtrack, and Motion. Even with Final Cut Studio, I'd buy the Adobe bundle for After Effects and Photoshop! Academic pricing is awesome, take advantage of it!

    Nice one!

This seems like a fair price for FCE to me. And it reads iMovie08 files now. After all the initial groaning about iMov08, is anyone using it?
