Apple today updated its Apple Store app to add expanded 3D Touch support for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices. 3D Touch Quick Actions were previously available, allowing users to quickly access orders, a store list, accessories, and the shop, but as of today, the Apple Store app also supports Peek and Pop gestures within the app itself.

Using a force press on a link listed in the app will now bring up a "Peek" preview of the content, with a "Pop" able to fully open a window. These gestures are limited to devices with 3D Touch.

Today's update also makes the Apple Store app available in Korea, Russia, and Thailand, three locations where it was not previously available for download.

One of the problems with the regular 'articles' where tech writers bemoan the lack of 3D Touch features is that on apps which have been updated to support 3D Touch, the newly added 3D Touch features (app icon) seemingly don't work until after you open the app.

So you can have an iPhone full of apps you've not opened for a while (but which have updated in the background and had 3D Touch features added) and at first glance (or press), they don't appear to support the feature.

Maybe Apple could have a different coloured 'updated' dot for apps that have just had 3D Touch capability added.

Is Apple Getting into Online Retail?

This should have been implemented when 3D Touch first arrived not 6 months later.
It has always been weird to me how Apple takes awhile to adopt the new technologies in its own products. I'd assume that the Apple Store app has its own dev team that works on its own schedule.

Except 3D Touch has been implemented in this app for a while. This was about adding extended support - which is just like how they add features across other apps these days.

The release notes were oddly worded though - made it sound like they'd just added 3D Touch support.

I am going to try this 3D touch on my new iPhone SE and iPad Pro.. oh wait..

Who cares. I had a 6S and disabled 3D Touch because I found it gimmicky and pointless. Now I'm happy with my SE, because I can actually use it single-handedly.
