I just got a Lacie external hard drive for my birthday that was recently bought from the apple store. It's a 160GB triple interface.

I was just curious if anyone knew if the Apple Store would accept a return if it was unopened within the 14 day period without a 10% restock fee??

I would think so. Perhaps with a receipt it will be much more easier. They might give you a *Gift card* for the value.

    I have the original receipt.

I called them and they said they wouldn't know until they rung it up in the computer and the computer would tell them if there would be a restocking fee or not???

Why ever pass up a chance to go to the Apple store? Just go there and check it out.

Cause it's not very accessible for me since I don't have a car here so my mode of transportation is the bus...

So I'd kinda like to know before going all the way out there... lol

Can they try ringing it up on the computer over the phone?

It's a 14-day return policy, open box or not, with no restocking fee.

Not so, 14 day unopened. There's ALWAYS a restocking fee unless the product is damaged. I worked there long enough to know. The return process is a pain in the ass there (for the workers)

Really? I've returned a pair of opened shure headphones before without a restock? But I could see why there'd be a fee for a Hard Drive... ??

Actually, there are only restocking fees on serialized products such as iPods, iSights, and computers. There is no restocking fee. Now when you used to work there, there used to be a 10% restocking fee on all open products, however, Apple changed their policy over a year ago, now it is only on serialized products.
