I need help in contacting apple for customer support. I just recently purchased a new 15" PB and have already discovered that the battery is no good. I am in a deployed location with the military and I cannot call apple for more than 15 min; which by that time they haven't even answered my call. Is there an e-mail address or some sort of chat support program that I am not aware of? I have searched all over Mac's site and can only find the 800 numbers. Thank you for you help.

This has come up a few times and as far as I can remember, there is no real email support from Apple, which I think is pretty poor, especially if there is a strong reason why you can't use the phone.

What I would suggest is that you use the powerbook feedback page here. I am not sure how effective it will be, but it is worth a try. Good luck!

The feedback page is a discussion forum for users to help users.

NO APPLE STAFF EVEN POSTS THERE.

Your only real option is to call, and in my opinion even that is pretty lousy.

That's true for the discussion forums, but I was referring to the actual feedback page which contains a text box for submission of queries to Apple. According to the blurb, they read all the feedback comments. Whether or not this is true I don't know, but when I had problems with some tracks I bought from the iTMS, I used the feedback page and I got a full refund within a week, so it can't hurt to try.

I'm not sure if it's across all product lines, but w/ my iMac G5 I was able to access a live online chat w/ Apple support.

Maybe you could see if the PBs have the same option?

For some reason iMacs are the only computers that have the online chat support.

    Thanks

Yah, I should have went ahead and tried the imac chat, but instead I ended up calling them with my cell phone. My mobile phone is from the UK (where I'm based normally) and I had to call stateside of course for Apple. Needless to say I probably paid for the replacement battery that they are sending with the amount of minutes I used while the idiot kept me on the phone. The first thing I said to him was I'm in a rush... He was soo freeken slow... it ended up being a 30 min call, which could have lasted 10 min easily. Anyway they are replaceing the battery which is the good news. Thanks for all your posts.
