That's a SATA drive, not a PATA drive, so you'd have to use an adapter, I don't know if it would fit though.

I've tried the UK's most popular e-commerce for technology (eBuyer) and they don't sell any PATA drives.

I had a quick look on eBay, there are some on there, look to be about £65 for a 500GB. I can't link to any, but just put PATA 500GB in search, theres a few there.

    Good luck. :apple:

Ok, but could I make my upgrade with the following items?:

    This Hard Drive
    http://www.saverstore.com/product/2...B-5400rpm-8MB-Cache-25-SATA-Mobile-Hard-Drive
    This adapter
    http://www.bestofferbuy.com/sata-to-25-ide-male-hard-drive-adapter-card-horizontal-p-16130.html
    This cable
    http://www.bestofferbuy.com/sata-to-25-ide-male-hard-drive-adapter-card-horizontal-p-16130.html

And I would require this enclosure to format the drives?

Couldn't I use the SATA to IDE adapter to copy the ATV's info to my mac with the enclosure? and then use the same adapter to use the disk in the ATV.

    thanks for your replies.

    Hmm...

Sounds like a very complicated job... Why not just buy a PATA/IDE Drive? Might cost a few quid more, but much easier.

I thought about doing that, but I googled, and read a few macrumors, and I cannot find a 2.5" PATA hard drive larger than 320gb,

So I decided to try to doe what they did:

And I am now wondering whether my stuff will work for the project.
