Hello everyone! :)

I have a very simple question.

I want to wireless stream videos and movies (also HD) from my MacBook Pro and my Ipad3 to my Samsung Smart TV.

Do I need AppleTV or AirPort Express?

Thanks a lot in advance for your replies :)

You need an AppleTV.

If you do not already have a wireless network in your home, you'll need one. An AirPort Express can do this, although just about any router will work. You would still need the AppleTV.

The only thing the Express can do is wirelessly stream audio to connected speakers. You know, in addition to being a wireless router and all.

I have at home WiFi and actually my Samsung Smart TV is connected to it.
However, it is very slow and the browser in the TV is very bad.... :-(
I assume, this is because I have two thick walls between the router and the TV.

Thanks again! :)

I will buy it and install it and post my learnings ;-)

The browser on the Samsung TV is bad bc.... It's actually very bad and complained about all over the Internet.

The slowness has nothing to do with your wireless or wired network. It's just not optimized for the hardware installed in the HDTV.

All the video services on the Samsung HDTV (Netflix, Hulu etc.) should perform fine. The web browser is an afterthought that performs poorly.
