I got an older 40GB Apple TV from a friend, but he didn't have the original power cable anymore. I've found a cable from an old DVD player that is an unpolorized C7 cable. It's rated at 2.5 Amps & 250 Volts. Will this cable work with the Apple TV. I know the power cables that come with the Apple TV are rated at 2.5 Amps & 125 Volts, but I don't know if that makes a difference? I don't want to fry the Apple TV.

It will be fine but if it's polarized you may have to shave the edges off the square side to make it fit.

I replaced the power cable on mine - adding a in-line switch at the same time. My aTV now has a power switch - tadaa!

When I got one off craigslist it didn't have the power cord. I just used the first one I found in my basement. Never had a problem. To this day I still don't know what the real cable looks like.
