As reported earlier in the week, the special edition Apple Watch Hermès collection today became available for purchase online, letting customers purchase the high-end editions from the online storefronts of both Apple and Hermès. The collection comes in ten models, all branching off of three band varieties -- the Single Tour, Double Tour, and Cuff -- and was introduced by Apple at its September iPhone event.

Each model of the Hermès collection includes a stainless steel Apple Watch case, and gives users a unique Hermès clock face for the wearable device. The pricing for the collection begins with the Single Tour band for $1,100, Double Tour for $1,250, and Cuff for $1,500. The Single Tour is the only one of the collection available in both 38mm and 42mm case sizes, with the Double Tour exclusively sold in 38mm and the Cuff only available in 42mm.

To purchase one of the Apple Watches in the Hermès collection, visit the online store of Apple or Hermès.

Great news! It will be interesting to see if I notice more of them out there with the expanded availability.

Oddly, it's not that easy to find from the basic Apple site. The Hermes link is still to the list of stores, and the Watch link just shows the Sport, Watch, and Edition.

At first it appeared that the site wasn't working (it wouldn't add the items to the bag), but it seems to be working now.

Figures, I only like the double tour model, but it's only for the 38 mm size.

I forget when Apple started to be so picky with things it wants and doesn't want me to buy when I'm ready to throw money at them.

I'm torn on this move.. they're putting Hermes' logo over theirs.
All in a bid to become more legitimate in the fashion scene.

Reminds me of the Motorola iTunes Phone strategy before the iPhone.

Although on the other side of the fence, the fashion scene is all about name, not so much technical brilliance.
Apple has yet to make a name for themselves there.

Is this the way to go though? I'm not sure.

It's like the LG Prada phone back in the day. Doing that basically says that LG admits it can't be fashionable on its own merit and must rely on someone else's brand to make them 'fashionable'.

Apple is now boxing into a corner - it's saying not a real fashion brand and needs an Hermes to be 'fashionable'.

I dunno.

With luxury watches, you pay for exclusivity. But exclusivity is measured with craftsmanship -- the movement, the finish, the dial, etc.

What's exclusive about this watch? The band? It's the same watch face with a slightly different digital display. The components are the same and I suspect production cost is as well.

There's certainly a price premium, I just don't see the exclusivity that price premium is supposed to represent.

I find those straps naff.

Taste is a funny thing. Steve Jobs had it. Microsoft don't. Neither does Tim Cook.

If Apple brought out a hybrid mechanical round watch with a digital overlay, I might be interested.

Tim Cook's Apple Watch took over 50% of the smartwatch market in 2015, with Pebble coming in 2nd at 8%. To the smartwatch market, it looks like most people like the Apple Watch.

These posts need to slow down. The smartwatch market is very new and the value prop isn't fully developed yet. Apple designed a nice watch that is selling very well in this new market segment. If Apple can integrate a must-have component (for myself, it would be health monitoring), then I'm sure this market will grow exponentially with Apple taking most of the share (iPhone). If the Apple Watch struggles to find a mass-need purpose, it'll sell well in a smaller market (iPad).

I guess I'd think it's great news too if I spent that much money on this.

The Double Tour is the only true "women"s" Apple Watch, which is why it is only in the 38mm (and why it is the only one with the cappucine and bleu jean colors). It is available in two different sizes of band, though.

the thing is, the iphone had a compelling reason for existence. The value prop was there from the get go... internet in your pocket...a wide screen ipod...and a revolutionary mobile phone..remember?
similarly, the ipad was a cheap way for people to do basic computing (facebook, basic word processing and internet browsing)...that people were using netbooks to fulfill.

the Apple watch... 10 months after release still doesn't really have a solid value prop.. I've been using it since launch day and I like it...but I find myself not missing it if I don't wear it. Not in the same way that I miss my iPhone or iPad if I don't have them for a few days/weeks.. Because it doesn't really have a compelling feature.

Apple watch Hermes.. Outdated electronics made in China by a bunch of exploited children, poor bastards. The leather made by a bunch of artsy fartsy wankers sat in Paris telling themselves how important they are. PRICKS

Don't beat about the bush say what you really mean. Seriously, couldn't agree more. Daft frills like this will mark the wearer and Apple as a lost cause.

They've been selling this since October, but only in select stores. What's new is that it is available online. In the stores, it is very much an Apple Watch (it's displayed in the same cases with the other watches).

I think it's a good move. For starters, it heads off fashion houses who are entering the category with Android Wear devices. Next, it adds some variety to the Apple Watch line.

I"m aware, I've actually seen one in store a few months ago.
The band is definitely of higher quality than the Apple one. Still, my point above remains...I think
