Apple likes to underestimate their earnings so they seems to be more successful when they actually meet or exceed Wallstreet expectations.

No, the guys on Wall Street haven't yet realized what the numbers for video iPodding mean

Eight million tv shows already downloaded. Do you know how that compares to Nielson tv ratings?

    Uh.

    That is E N O R M O U S.

So buy AAPL now while it's hovering at eighty.

See you at eighty again after the split very soon.

Apple makes very little money from video downloads,. It's probably barely worth the bandwidth. If video downloading drives iPod sales, then it's worthwhile, but Wall Street will (rightly) judge that by iPod sales.

Besides, since when is 8 million a huge TV number? A show with 8 million viewers wouldn't crack the weekly top 20.

    Keeping the Faith?

What faith? I am tired of terms like "Mac Faithful" and "Cult Following." I am no more faithful to Apple than I am to my long distance phone service provider. If a year from now Dell and Windows teamed up to make a hardware/software combination more elegant, useful, stable, secure, and enjoyable that what Apple was offering, I'd be there. (Not that I think that will happen) Just because there are a subset of people who have consistently recognized that what Apple has been selling for the past few years is better doesn't make them "faithful". Geez.

Check the numbers again. Eight million os a lot in todays Nielsons and we are just talking about a handful of shows that have offered downloads.
    The market is enormous

How much does Apple make on video downloads, then? Where'd you get the numbers?

CSI regularly draws 28 million viewers a week. The 20th rated show draws roughly 11 million. Don't believe me ... go to www.nielsenmedia.com.

I read that Apple gets roughly the same per download fee for videos as for songs ... roughly 5 cents a download. Don't have the link, but I'm confident that this is correct. So Apple's video download revenue to date is a paltry $400,000. Does that mean there's no potential? Of course not, but it's meaningless in the grand scheme of Apple's stock price.
