“iTunes has sold twice as many songs in just four days as all the other online music services in Japan sell in one month.”

So maybe having lower download prices isn't ALL bad after all? ;)

Also, I never really thought about audiobooks on non-US iTMS stores before this article mentioned them. Good to know there are non-English audibooks on iTunes.

Didn't it only take a week to seel 1 million in the US? Wow, that's fast in Japan! (but they also had PC and Mac, not just Mac)

how does this compare to euro launches? relative to US launch, these don't seem to me to be good numbers, given how much the ipod and music store have grown in the meantime. But then again, smaller population in japan, different attitudes... I can't say, really. All I can say is, I hope it takes off big time.

Yep. The press release for both stores says over 1 million so who knows how close they actually are to each other. Perhaps the US store sold 1.5 million in one week but the Japan store solst 1.1. Anyway they are pretty darn close and I'm sure once word gets out sales will increase even more. Hope the NZ and AU store open soon. One billion sold by years end!!

An amazing amount of songs that were sold. Japan seems to be big for Apple.
