I dont get the point of Apple's new PR campaign.

The advert seems to be more for Intel than Apple...

'Now it can be used to do all things that Mac's do'..... But average viewer wouldnt have a clue what mac's do or the difference if anything..

They'd be better marketing on it's strength's and not on a component part that most people outside of the mac community wouldnt have known what processor was in a mac about anyway.. And then all the people in the mac community would know about the intel change? So who the hell is this advert targeting..

It tells normal viewers nothing about the mac, its strength (mainly OSX & apps like iLife package)...

VERY BAD ADVERT..... A wasted opportunity really, that's what's annoying.

Is there a new one out or are you referring to the Kiefer Sutherland one?

I agree. The average person doesn't really know why mac's are better, and those that do already own a mac. And the average person also doesn't know what intel is, or why it's better than what they used to have.

No I mean the Kiether one (the one they showed when launching the intels).. For the first time I'm seeing LOADS of this advert on TV (almost every other advert break) and just think what's the point? They also removed the DULL reference over here' so now it's "dutifully" doing...

Apple PR need a serious Kick Up The Ass.

Is it an Intel add? End of add directs to Apple.co.uk (.com in states I assume) so I wasn't too sure who was footing the bill..

Apparently Intel got very upset at apple for "describing it's customer's products dull."

in the UK the ads are different then they are here. I haven't seen the ad lately here and was assuming that you meant that the US one was revised to be like the EU one. The EU one is different than the US one and i don't think the US one has changed. Feel free to correct, but i believe the US one still says "dull".

I saw that the "dull little boxes" language from the US commercial was neutered for the UK (and elsewhere?). It lost its edge in the "translation".

LOL! So has that been changed in the States too? If not why would intel continue to foot the bill...

It's like the South Park Chubacca Defence.... It doesnt makes sense...

No, as i said above, to my knowledge, the US ad has not been changed.

Also, intel is NOT paying a dime towards this ad. They didn't see it until we saw it at the keynote.

I agree with MRU. That ad is playing a hell of a lot in the UK now. It really should be better.

Hmm, I don't know. Everytime I talked to someone about Macs they went: "But they use these strange processors." I had to tell them about the Intel switch, because they didn't know about it which is no surprise as the publich knows relatively little about Macs here.

I thought about an ad that is more Mac-centric but I'm sure the first argument would be against the processor, so I think it's a good idea to get this into the heads first. I agree though that afterwards there needs to be an ad that specifically talks about Mac advantages.

Yep everytime you flick over on Sky there it is....

Then your friends seem to be more clued up than most users, Granted most know they are different, but not how. Most just seem to know they are more expensive.

Well, that's the thing, isn't it. They know it's different, so they don't want to bother. I bet most think they're not compatible for this reason. I think this is what the ad is for.

I'm assuming it is the first instalment of a series, and that they will show what a Mac can do. If it intends to raise questions in the viewers mind then they should be answered somewhere. If it is a one-off then it's poor because it's incomplete.

Yes, especially as many people think it is a dig at Dell rather than Intel's customers in general.

We did have the orginal. The new one now doesn't make much sence. At least the orginal was taking the piss out of Microsoft- that is, if you knew what OS X had to offer.

What they need to do IMHO is have an add to show what it can do, for example expose and spotlight, and say when OS X had it. Perhaps when Vista launches, just to take the piss out of M$.
