    Apple has not shown a strong interest in the gaming market, and it doesn't seem to fit their corporate vision. It would siphon resources, both financial and people.

    I wouldn't buy it, nor have I bought any of the others.

    Stay focused Apple.

    I wouldn't, and no one else did when Apple partnered with Bandai and entered the console market in 1995.

    Introducing (to you) the Apple/Bandai Pippin gaming console:

    no.
    i read a great article a while back on how apple should spend some of its recources porting games. this is what it needs to do if it wants to attract gamers, not create a console. I dont think most mac users are huge console game players in any case. i know i much prefer playing games on a computer than on a console.

    They tried that once it was called Pippin. Didn't work for them, or Bandai. Ooops. Oh well.

    I would love to see apple make a portable gaming system. I think they could do a good job and make it right. I don't think they should, however, unless the market changes considerable and Apple's marketshare increases significantly.

    Why would apple want to enter into such a crowded market?

    They already made a console with bandai called pippin, and it wasnt successful, they are not going to go into the gaming market.

    Oh, they should come out with another PDA too since that is such a good market right now. Come to think of it i think i just heard a rumor about apple coming out with this great new PDA that is going to blow everything else out of the water.

    BTW that was sarcasm before any newbies want to know about the new PDA.

    Unofficially the count right now is...

    No -> 7
    Yes -> 0

    Of course all of the provisional ballots, absentee ballots, and hanging chads have not been counted yet.

    Odd, the exit polls had the "yes" crowd leading by a wide margin.

    I would think that most Mac people who play computer games are console gamers. After all, they aren't getting the latest games on the Mac, so they are either using a console or they also have a PC for games.
    Me, I have PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and GBA SP. Where's my Nintendo DS and Sony PSP?? :)

    Apple wouldn't do well if they made a console anyway, xbox and playstation are far better than any console apple can make

    in that case, why dont go take your xbox and PS and kiss them like mad

    the only reason you say so is coz you got crappy Halo 2 on XBOX and you must have played Vice City on PS.

    but then again, Apple are too decent a company to make a console. Apple wont resort to the dirty tricks used by M$

    you go and kiss bill gates

    All i am saying is that if apple ever make a console, it wouldn't get as much support as the xbox or playstation does now. Besides apple have little games for the MAC, why would they suddenly go to making a console?

    You just hate MS

    I don't think Apple should make another console, although it would be great if they partnered with Nintendo (or even M$) so that the GC2 or Xbox2 games can run on future Macs.

    Although seeing as M$ are going to be making their own Xbox2 based PC, they seem unlikely.

    Reality Check: Microsoft didn't enter the console market, they simply bought whatever profitable looking portions they could convince to sell out.
