    I have some problems with my g4 Powerbook - 1.67ghz - 1mb ram

    1. The spell checker in Mac Mail freezes on the screen and you have to reboot to get rid of it.

    2. Random freezes while browsing safari, adobe reader etc. that need a manual reboot. No error messages

    3. Mac freezing randomly when put to sleep (i.e. not waking up again and the sleep light being solid white)

I have been through all the checks - done disk repair and verify utilities. Now I am told that I should do Archive and Install.

My query is - will I lose all my mail and folders? Also will it effect all other users folders (2 other people) and applications?

What a nightmare - any help appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your help Mr Lee Roth - I will back up all those files then presumably just pop them back in the library after re-install?

Yes, drop them back where they were after the install, and you'll have your mail back.
