Yes - maxed-out "Ultimate" configurations, only.

The Apple store near me also had the 11.6/4gb/1.6GHz as well, so yeah it's only maxed out configs.

I just want the base model with the 4gb ram upgrade, so I'll likely have to do BTO. I'd much rather order from somewhere with a decent return policy.

That blows, looks like I will have to get a 2Gb then :/

Is the availability okay on the normal models? I don't suppose they are being sold out like hotcakes or ipads

All the stores here in KC that sell Apple products (Best Buys, Apple stores and Micro Center) all have base units in stock. The 4 gig ones are randomly coming to the Apple store, but so far all max'd units.

If your looking for a base config with 4 gigs why not order one? They seem to be shipping within a few days.

Stores do carry the upgraded models, I bought my MBA maxed in the Apple store. Though, I would not suggest "settling" for the 2GB just because your Apple store doesn't carry the 4GB. I would order it online, it only takes a couple extra days and you get what you want.

You will regret not getting the 4GB in the short and long run. It really makes a difference.

I went to my local Apple Store yesterday and asked for a 4GB, 1.6GHz 11" Air and got a bit of a blank stare from the salesperson, who said they only had the two models listed on the little card, which were the two stock 2GB versions. I asked her to check to be sure. She asked a number of other people who all shrugged their shoulders and then went into the back room. She came out a couple minutes later carrying a 4GB, 1.6GHz 11" Air.

I'd recommend that anyone who's being told by their local store that they're not carrying the high-end configurations - make sure they really know if that's the case. Some of them may just not know what they've got.

The maxxxed 13.3 shows in stock on MacMall. You better go through appleinsider price link to have it for $1,696.53 (will show in basket)

I had the same experience at my local Apple store. The sales people standing around the MBA table all didn't believe they had the 11" ultimate in stock, even though I had spoken with them on the phone about it only minutes earlier. They were all surprised to find out they were indeed carrying the fully upgraded models. You can't trust the sale people on the floor, be sure to have them actually check what is in stock.

This happened with me a couple of days ago at 2 different apple stores. I ended up having to unecessarily drive an extra 40 miles because an apple store employee was too lazy to go in the stock room and check. In fact the store I bought it from had 1 employee who claimed you can "upgrade" to 4gb via a Genius. Another stated "we only carry 2gb". Finally walked into the store and demanded they "check the back". He came back with a MBA 13 ultimate in hand. What pissed me off the most was going back to the store near my house and doing the same thing and guess what?! They had both the 11 and 13 ultimates!!! Apple store employees seem to be regressing to Worst Buy levels....

Of the three Apple stores near me, one has the ultimate versions listed on the cards near the computers showing them for sale, the two other stores only show the two standard configurations for each size. But all three stores do have the ultimate versions for sale. Knowledge of this among the employees is mixed.

Not the 13's, at least as of yesterday Univ. Village and Bell Square only had maxed out 11's, not 13's.

well i have the base 13 mba that replaced my 13mbp with ssd .. but after seeing the deal thru macmall on the 13 ultimate for 1699 or whatever it was with free shipping and no tax .. it was 150 cheaper than it was with my edu discount at an apple store .. so i just bought it .. and will return my base 13 and take the 10% hit

They started out carrying only the base units, which is what's confusing the sales people. If the stores have gotten the max units in, then I may go back and exchange my 11 for an ultimate.

    Cheers

Where are you seeing 1699? I see $50 off which makes the 13" ultimate 1749. Yes, there's still the free shipping and no tax, but I'm curious where you got 1699. Or maybe your 'whatever it was' is a $50 fudge factor? :)

There's an additional 3% AI discount but you have to go through the link at the AI pricing guide - brings the system price down to 1696 and change.
