Are we Mac users a cult? I think that we may be though not a bad cult, rather a cult to show the world the True Path of OS X. Do you think we're a cult? I say we are a like a cult and I'm damn proud to be in this here organization.

Not so much a cult as a group of very obsessive people. Though I have to wonder about some.

    Actually...

    According to dictionary.reference.com:

    cult
Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.

    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=cult

So, really, we are a cult, just not in the usual sense of the word, considering this is not a religion (for most of us).

Ha, ha, like the borg smilies, though I hope they don't represent the true atmosphere of macrumors.;)

The true meaning is still only available in the private forums, that's where it was given birth - never meaning to cause problems it truly turned out to be one of the largest misguided events at MacRumors. I try and forget it - thanks so much for bringing it all up ed:(

But as for understanding its power - imagine all the demi-gods (or a large majority) all with the same avatar. It was a truly unexpected effect it had on the forums, made reading them quite odd.

It got to the point where all the demis were more like one user then many. A lot like the Borg in that respect :p

That and they were hellbent on 'assimilating' mischief ;)

ed, you seem to be well versed in what happened here before you joined, have you been lurking for a couple years or what?

I think it would be a mistake to try to forget it, after all it was a part of Macrumors history, albeit a dark chapter, probably painful for you seeing as you were the president, but it was a big issue and if we forget it all, but if we forget it, we're just ignoring that other side of Macrumors.

Sometimes I browse through some of the older posts and I get a feel of how it's grown and the DGVPG is a part of that.

Naw, actually my first post wasn't too long after I joined, when some of the elder members make a link to an older post, I read up on it and similar ones and sometimes I search through some of the older ones just for fun.

Ah, but I wasn't the president, I was more of an organizer because of my designing all the tars - each one was a little different depending on the member, but basically shared the same parts.

Naw, we tried to make duke the president of the forums, not of the DGVPG.

Ha, I remember that one too.

Too bad that poll didn't go through, it sure would have been interesting.

Sorry, I'd have to cast my vote for Sam Dweck for President of the Forum -- via absentee ballot ;)
