Anyone know what's in the new carrier update that went out today? Version 14.1..
I just got it too a few hours ago.
No idea if there's any changes.
I have 14.5
Someone who's jailbroken needs to do a diff on the new and the old files....
Starting today, customers using iPhone 5 and 4S will begin receiving a software update that includes Wireless Emergency Alerts.
Kinda cool actually. But, oddly, my ipad got the carrier update, but doesn't have the notification options available.
Also, I can't disable presidential alerts? Really? "Thanks, Obama!"
14.5 ATT on iOS 7
Actually, CMAS alerts were congressional mandate from the Bush era.
Got it on my gf iPhone 4. Non 4S
how do you get the carrier update?
I just went to Settings, About, then the popup just said it was updated. Didn't have to do anything else...
Besides the government and amber alerts, I can now use FaceTime over cellular. I have the grandfathered unlimited plan so I'm happy about it. If it matters any I'm in Houston using an iPhone 5.
Me too but it happened before this update. Kind of nice facetiming over cellular.
I didn't get the update for my iPad. Strange you got it.
My iPhone 5 did not get it automatically; I had to connect it to iTunes then the update came over. My wife's 4S had it already when I went to connect it to iTunes. Go figure...
My third gen iPad (wifi and cellular) did not get it. Even when I connected it to iTunes; still nothing. At least we both have it on our iPhones now.
Just the emergency alerts
me too now i can FT over cellular. I'm NYC using an Iphone 5 and I have the grandfathered unlimited plan also. but i didnt get carrier update 14.5 all i got was 14.1 .
Are running the iOS7 beta? I believe the 14.5 upodateis for iOS7 beta.
oh ok thanks, that makes sense because im on 6.1.4
Strangely I keep getting this notification but it is not being applied. Do I have to connect to itunes for the 14.1 update to happen?
I am jailbroken on 6.1.2.
Thanks for finally bringing emergency alerts to the iPhone, AT&T!
Now, all I need is an earthquake warning system.
Here you go; a diff of the previous one that I had and 14.1: http://paste.debian.net/hidden/198ed7c1/
The main change is the broadcast alerts (AMBER, Emergency and Presidential.) It also looks like T-Mobile received a similar update, as did Verizon.
And here's a diff of 14.1 and 14.2, which is a bit shorter, with only one minor change: http://paste.debian.net/hidden/8f8cb58e/
Looks like the only real change there is the addition of a key called "MinimumDeviceCategorySupported", with a value of 10, on my 4S.
Also, if you want to enable the third alert toggle in Settings -> Notifications, heres how.
