Ok, so I ordered one from Apple since they are getting rid of them.

Two Questions, I will be using this on an older TV with the AV Cables and on a newer TV with HDMI, so is there anything I should know as I will be watching HD Video's I purchased from iTunes, and I am using Mac the Ripper to rip my current DVD's?

Is there anything else I should get to make this experience better?

I will be using it at home and as soon as we buy an RV camper I plan on taking it on the road so instead of carting all my DVD's around, I can take just this one device.

Get a 5.1 surround sound system. If you're planning to travel a lot, a 320 gb hard drive update may be desirable.

Yes, Call Apple, Cancel your order and get a APTV2 ;)

    Just kidding!...

You seen to have gotten all you need, as mentioned before an larger HD may be useful, you can also consider (depending on how far are you in your order) a Mac mini+ATV2 ( I saw a similar combo on my friend RV and it rocked so hard, he got a dvd library of over 500+, all on his Mini and using a Ruku box to the TV) anyways just an idea.

I was planning on using an external 500 GB HDD only because my entire library will not fit on a 160GB, however I heard it is a pain to upgrade the internal HDD on the ATV, so I just figured I would carry my pocket drive.

As for the 5.1 Suround Sound, a lot of money to invest for the three places I will be using the ATV, bedroom, family room, and RV.

I like the idea, however I am also toying with the new Mini, just that if a tv is not HDMI, kind of makes it hard to connect to.

If I use ATV Cloner, what is the largest HDD you can put into an ATV, and I have to think about it bc the one I ordered is under warranty, and I would think cracking the case would void that?

    Check post #2. ;)

I don't know about the warranty. If you break something, then yes. But otherwise I don't know. My replacement ATV has the WD 320 gb PATA drive in it.

Just shared the link because of the pictures.

The WD3200BEVE is the biggest 2,5" PATA drive you can get.
You can of course switch to SATA using a PATA/SATA-interface like the Advantech PCM-233B. As SATA drives are cheaper I would go that way (with a WD5000BEVT)...

if you "jailbreak" it you can enable USB storage and just use an external drive.

Is your older tv composite or component?
