Audio Mac - A new iMac G5 1.6 / Powermac Single 1.8 / 2nd hand dual G4?

i'd go:

single 1.8 G5
two 512 sticks (that's like $~180, and you can add two 1gb sticks to the second bank later, giving you 3gb total)
No GPU upgrade (maybe in a couple of years, if you want)
Formac monitors are generally nice, i hear.

...under any circumstances buy a MDD G4 for audio work.

Noisy as hell.
They're not nicknamed 'Wind-Tunnels' without good reason.

I had to fit a Verax fan-kit (about 300+ euros) to my dual 1.42 G4 just to make it livable with...
